Cops halt combing in naxal hit areas

In accordance with the policy of the new Government led by Dr.Y.S.Rajasekharareddy, the district police have discontinued the combing operations in the naxal infested areas with immediate effect according to the Superintendent of Police Govind Singh.
YSR orders plan to raised Rs.20,000 Cr.

The Chief Minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy has asked finance and planning officials to take steps to raise the annual plan expenditure from the present level of about Rs.11,000 crores to about Rs. 20,000 crores to facilitate early completion of all pending irrigation projects.
He was reviewing the State's finances with the Cheif Secretary, Mohan Kanda and other senior officials besides the Congress MLA-elect K.Rosaiah before leaving to Delhi.He asked the officials to come with the strategy in a week to come up to fulfill the promises made by the Congress in its election manifesto which include completion of all pending projects in a three to five year time frame.
7 die as water tank collapses

Seven pilgrims including four girls were killed when a water tank collapsed while they were bathing near it at the Sri Kondagatu Hanuman temple in Kodagattu village of Mallial mandal on Sunday. The temple authorities had only recently increased the height of the tank to meet the pilgrim rush for the Hanuman jayanthi celebrations.
The Chief Minister has expressed grief over the deaths and announced ex gratia of Rs.50,000/- from the Chief Minister's fund to the kith and kin and Rs.25,000/- to those who seriously injured and Rs10,000/- to whose who suffered minor injuries. According to an official press release on Sunday, he had instructed the in charge Collector and directed the RDO to conduct a detailed enquiry and submit a report.
Citizen's panel offers to broker talks on Naxal issue

The Committee of Concerned Citizens has reiterated its commitment to play its role, if called upon to do so in facilitating talks between the Government and the revolutionary groups.
The offer is significant against the backdrop of the statement by the Chief Minister Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy that the new Government would call naxalites for talks without preconditions if they created a congenial atmosphere in the State by putting an end to violence. A statement issued by S.R.Sankaran, Convenor and Potturi Venkateswararao member welcomed the initiative taken by Dr.Reddy.
AIYF hails decision

The District Council of the All India Youth Federation on Sunday hailed the decision of the State Government to withdraw 'user charges' in Government Hospitals according to a statement issued by its District Secretary and he also appealed the Government to withdraw the GO which had categorized medical colleges and hospitals as development societies.

Saraswatika Vedika a tri monthly magazine publised from Machilipatnma has choosen Adoori Venkata Seetharama Murty award of Sri Annavarapu Srinivasa Lalkshmi Narayana Annapurnamma Memorial Award for his book 'Atmadruthi'. The award will be given away to the winner at a funciton to be organised on May 23rd according to the Chairman of the literary awards Committee.
CPI opposes move to ban APCLC

The city council of the CPI has strongly opposed the alleged move by the police to ban the AP Civil Liberties Committee and also urged the State Government to consider steps to lift ban on the PWG to create a congenial atmosphere for talks
PWG vows to target Former Chief Minister Mr Naidu

While hailing people's verdit in the recently held Assembly elections, The Rachankonda Dalam of PWG in a gram sabha at Devulamma Nagaram village of Choutuppal mandal, has made it clear that it 'will physically eliminate' TDP leaders including the former Chief Minister. In this connection, they warned they will not keep quite if the new Government adopted the same policies. The new Chief Minister will also meet the same fate as that of Mr.Naidu.
Vigilance officials seize 1614 tonnes of FFW rice

In the first ever biggest haul after the introduction of the Food for Work program, sleuths of State Vigilance and Enforcement department led by its SP B.V.Ramanakumar raided a go down in the new port area on Sunday and seied 1614 tonnes of rice meant for the Food for Work program and stored there for shipment abroad.
CM moves to prevent suicide by farmers

The new Government will take all measures to ensure that no farmer will commit suicide due to debt burden. The Government will do everything to avoid repetition of the earlier situation but if some farmer did, by any chance, end his life, his family will be assisted in every manner, the Chief Minister declared at a news conference.
