DIET CET hall tickets dispatched

Hyderabad

The hall tickets for DIET CET 2004 which will be held on May 21st from 10.30am to 12.30pm have been dispatched to all the candidates according to a press release.

YS Rajasekhar Reddy says he will continue reforms

Hyderabad

The Chief Minister Dr. YS Rajasekharareddy on Saturday favored continuation of reforms 'as long as they beneficial people but with suitable modifications' and announced filling of all vacant Government posts barring those declared redundant and withdrawal of user charges levied in Government hospitals.

Participating in the meet the press program organized by the AP Union of working journalists Dr.Reddy was responding the same. He said that constituting a commission of enquiry 'if necessary' to probe the 'scams' that surfaced during the previous government.

Chandrababu Naidu re-elected as TDLP leader

The TDP President N.Chandrababu Naidu was re-elected leader of the 47 member Telugu Desam Legislature Party in which capacity he automatically becomes the Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly. Mr.P.Keshav was elected the lone party whip. Addressing the newly elected members, Mr.Naidu said reverses in elections were common and it was nothing new to the TDP. Mr.Nadidu admitted that anti-incumbency factor worked strongly in this elections against the TDP Government.

Rs.88 Cr. benefit to farmers

Visakhapatnam

The waiver of electricity dues and tariff for the agricultural sector announced by the new Chief Minister Dr Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy would benefit farmers falling under the category in the Eastern Power Distribution Company of AP Limited (APEPDCL)Area to a tune of 88.38 crores.

There were 1,21,601 agricultural connections in West Godavari, East Godavari, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts covered by the EPDCL. The waiver of arrears amounted to Rs.46.5 crores while the free power supply would cost a further of Rs.41.88 crores based on the tariff of 2003-04.

YSR for Delhi

The Chief Minister Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy will be leaving for Delhi on Sunday evening to attend the meeting of All India Congress Committee on Monday and the swearing in ceremony of the Union Cabinet the following day according to official sources.

TDP Mahanadu on May 28th and 29th

Hyderabad

The Telugu Desam will organize its Mahanadu the party's annual conclave here on May 28th and 29th. The first day will be devoted to a discussions on the conduct of elections by all the candidate who contented on behalf of the party and on the second day the general body meeting will be held to discus State and national politics, the TDP president N.Chandrababu Naidu said here on Saturday.

Naxals blow up railway signal room

Naxalites belonging to the PWG have blown up control cum signal room of a Railway crossing between Sattenapalli and Piduguralla at Dhulipalla butthere is no damage to the track.

Aravinda Rao takes over as Intelligence chief

Hyderabad

The senior IPS officer K.Aravindarao on Saturday took over as Additional DGP of the State's Intelligence wing. He replaces K.Durgaprasad. The new Intelligence Chief met the Director-General of Police S.R.Sukumara on Saturday afternoon and later went to his office where he was welcomed by other senior IPS officers. He held a meeting with his colleagues for over half an hour.
