Defeated TDP candidate kills himself

Anantapur

Unable to overcome the trauma of defeat in the recent Assembly elections, K.M.Rahamatulla , the TDP's candidate from the Ananthapur Constituency committed suicide allegedly by shooting himself in his residence in Ramnagar on Friday.

Dr. Y S Rajasekhara Reddy in as the new Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh

With the Congress Party State Unit and the Central command confirming the name of Dr. Y S Rajasekhara Reddy as its candidate for the Chief Minister, the route for the Chief Ministership is all clear.

At around 1:39 PM at a special program held at the Lal Bahadur Stadium in Hyderabad, Dr Rajasekhara Reddy will take oath from Governor Sri Surjith Singh Barnala. Dr Rajasekhara Reddy became the 14th Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Governor Barnala spoke the first few phrases and YSR read the swearing-in ceremony message with great easy.

His mother Jayamma, wife Rajyalakshmi, daughter Sharmeela and other family members were present.

TDP members were conspicuous by their absence, while TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao, BJP state president N Indrasena Reddy, S Sudhakar Reddy (CPI), B V Ragavulu (CPM) and a hoard of Congress leaders, including former chief ministers N Jandardhan Reddy and N Bhaskar Rao, greeted Reddy after the swearing-in.

The security arrangements for the searing-in ceremony were beefed up. But this did not hinder thousands of YSR fans who came to the venue. Press Reports, TV Cameramen and other media representatives nearing over 100 made the coverage.

PWG members surrender

Eight members of the militia of the banned PWG including three boys in the 14-16 years age group surrendered before the Superintendent of Polcie Sanjay Kumar Jain here on Friday.
