TRS sets condition for backing up Congress

Visakhapatnam

About 1000 polling personnel have been entrusted with the responsibility of electronic counting of votes in the district on Tuesday for 143 Assembly segments seven each in Visakhapatnam and Anakapalle and two segments in Bhadrachalam Lok Sabha Constituency. According to the District collector, all arrangements are in place for smooth conduct of counting.

The BSNL will provide information on the election results over telephone from 9am on May 11. The results will be available on the telephone numbers 1255224 and 22222299 in Hyderabad and on 95-40-1255224 or 95-40-2222299 from other places. The BSNL Cellone subscribers can dial 12506 and select the elections results option to get information.

Summons to be to issued on TRS chief

The Fifth Metropolitan Magistrate on Monday ordered issue of summons to the TRS president K.Chandrasekararao on a petition submitted by an advocate who alleged that Mr.Rao had cheated and misappropriated funds to the tune of Rs.77 lakhs collected from 771 candidates who applied for party ticket in Telengana. The Magistrate posted the hearing of the case to June 26th.

Free power file will be signed first- YSR

The former CLP leader Y.S.Rajasekharareddy on Monday made it clear that free power to farmers would be the first file signed by the Congress party as soon as it came to power.

Sonia clears YSR'S name

The Congress Legislature Party will meet at 10am on May 12th to elect its new leader. Former CLP leader Y.S.Rajasekkarareddy's name was cleared by the AICC President Sonia Gandhi on Sunday according to available information.Gulam Nabi Azad and Shivaraj Patil are being deputed as observers to ensure smooth conduct of the meeting. Another observer Krishna Murty has already arrived. If the party comes back to power, the swearing in ceremony of its Chief Minister will be held immediately at 10.30am

Charges against poll staff 'false'

Hyderabad

The Guntur district election officer found the allegation made by election agents and some voters that the Electronic Voting Machine was taken away midway by the election authorities at Venkatayapalem in Pedakaurapadu Assembly constituency at the instance of a police officer due to a Naxalite threat to be false and unfounded. The DEO submitted a report to the Chief Electoral officer to this effect, the CEO ruled out action on the complaint.

Even as a few hours are left to decide the fate of political parties which were engaged in a no-holds-barred fight for power at the hustling, the supporters of the former CLP leader Y.S.Rajasekharareddy set out to drum up support for their leader to become the Chief Minister. A section of functionaries of the West Godavari District Congress Committee have been on a padyatra in the footsteps of their leader who in a similar way hit the roads across the State in the mid summer last year. The padyatra which was flagged off by V.Ramakrishnam Raju a staunch follower of Dr.Rajasekkarareddy at Bhimavaram on Sunday reached Dwaraka Tirumala, the shine of Sri Venkateswara Swamy on Monday.
