The former Bapatla MLA and Congress leader Chirala Govardhana Reddy and former president of the Guntur District Youth Congress Vankuri Srinivasa Reddy were arrested and sent to district jail here on Tuesday after being sentenced to six months simple imprisonment for obstructing police officials from discharging duties and also destroying a police jeep.

Voters not having photo identity cards will have to produce any of 12 documents listed by the State Election authorities' whey they exercise their franchise in the coming elections. They are passports, driving license, income tax PAN Card, service identity cards issued to staff by Central/State Governments, their undertakings and private firms, bank/kisan/post office pass books, property documents with bill receipts, ration cards,SC/ST/OBC certificates, pension documents, railway identity cards and freedom fighter identity cards.
