Three Naxals killed in encounter

Three naxals including a women were killed in an encounter between a special police party and the naxals on the AP Orissa border in Salur mandal on Monday early hours.

Chandrababu Naidu promises to fight for women's quota

The TDP President Mr.N.Chandra babu Naidu today gave a call to women to hand out a resounding defeat at the hustings to political parties hindering the passage of Women's Reservation Bill in Parliament. He promised to fight uncompromisingly for reservation of one third of seats for women in Parliament and State.

Visakhapatnam Police Commissionerate to issue passport forms

The time being taken for issue of passports will come down drastically with the opening of a new building for the passport application receipt cell in the Police Commissionerate here on Monday. Inaugurating the cell at the new premises, The Regional Passport Officer hoped that the time being taken for getting clearances from the police would be minimal after opening the cell.

BJP not to join TDP Government if comes to power

The President of the BJP M.Venkaiah Naidu has asserted that his party will not join the government in the State in the event of the TDP winning the elections. He sounded very confident of the victory of the TDP-BJP combine in the State and the National Democratic Alliance at the Centre has however said the TDP has to decide whether or not to join the BJP led Government.

Mr. Naidu was in the charted plane for over 40 minutes in air as the ground control could not give clearance as another airplane had an emergency landing at the Gannavaram Airport.

Sonia Gandhi tour from 10th

Hyderabad

The Congress president, Sonia Gandhi will be touring the State from around noon on March 10 till evening on March 12th. In a packed schedule Mrs. Gandhi will take part in three road shows and public meetings at Nandyal, Karimnagar and Kedareswararaopet in Vijayawada.

According to the schedule released by the APCC She will touch down at Anantapur from Bangalore in a helicopter at 1pm on Wednesday and thereafter traveling by road from Somaladoddi to Marthadu then she will fly to Nandyal. After the meeting she will fly to Hyderabad for a night halt. On Thursday morning, she will proceed by road covering several places in the twin cities.

On 12th, she will traverse the city covering Ramgopalpet, Subhash road, Secunderabad Railway station etc. and from where she will fly to Vijayawada for her third public meeting.

PCC President defends 'sacrifice' call

The APCC president on Monday defended his call to former MLAs and MPs to get ready for sacrifice in the largest interests of the party.Mr.Srinivas who arrived here by regular flight to take part in the launching Srikakulam edition of Telugu daily VAARTA was mobbed by several aspirants.

Naxals attack agriculturist

Ongole

Naxalites made an unsuccessful attempt on the life of Magulu Venkateswarlu an agriculturist of Gurrpusala village on Sunday night. Five naxalites arrived in the village that took him to the outskirts and opened fire on him. He was rushed to the hospital for medical aid.

TDP booklet - CEO asks clarification

Basing on the complaint by K.Rosaiah, Chief Spokesman of the Congress on Saturday, the Chief Electoral Officer has taken up the issue of the booklet made available to public highlighting the achievements of the Chandrababu Naidu Government titled '100 months of Development' by addressing separate letters to the Information and Public Relations department and the TDP seeking to know as to who has published it.

The CEO speaking to presspersons said that the booklet did not indicate the name of the publisher and after verifying this aspect appropriate action would be initiated as per the election code.

Eleven held in a raid on a brothel

Hyderabad

Eleven people were held by the West Zone Task Force in Hyderabad after a raid on a brothel shown as a guest house was conducted at Jubliee Hills. Six Cellphones and cash of Rs. 11,000 was recovered from them.

Andhra Pradesh team for Federation Cup announced

Hyderabad

The 23-member strong team that will carry the Andhra Pradesh flag at the 10th edition of the Federation Games Athletic Championships was announced. The games will be held from March 16 to 18 in Delhi. The team will be managed by K Saranga Pani, Adireddy Satyanarayana and is Coached by Mohammed Ghouse.

Three Andhra Girls for National Hockey Coaching Camp

Hockey isn't that great from Andhra Pradesh but three girls proved this wrong when they were selected to the National Hockey Coaching Camp to be held in New Delhi were given an entry. The girls - G Malleswari Reddy, Laksm Priya and Prasanna Lakshmi were selected to be held between March 20 to April 30. This is the first time that Andhra girls are figured in this camp.
