TDP - BJP alliance runs into trouble

The alliance between the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Bharateeya Janatha Party (BJP) in Andhra Pradesh has run into trouble with the seat sharing between the two parties triggering protests and resignations by members in the party. The electoral fortunes of some candidates are likely to be affected with the cadre from both sides threatening to work at cross purposes. The TDP is facing problems in at atleast 10 constituencies over seat sharing. It suffered a major setback in Chittor, the home district of the President N Chandrababu Naidu when its former MLA Lakshmidevamma quit the party on Saturday protesting against the allotment of Tamballapalle seat to the BJP. She later announced that she would contest as an Independent candidate.
TDP releases third list of candidates for elections

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Sunday night released its third list of candidates for the elections. This list included 27 party candidates contesting for the Assembly elections and 6 for the Lok Sabha. Atleast 10 new faces and 9 women featured in the list.
P.Srinivasulu Reddy (TDP) joins Congress

There seems to be no end to the woes of the TDP in Nellore district. Even before the party could recover from the shock following resignation by the former Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Kavali, V.Venugopala Reddy, the aspirant for Rapur Assembly seat, P.Srinivasulu Reddy joined the Congress. He met the party members in Hyderabad last night and announced his decision.
Activists storm TDP Office in Anantapur

Tension prevailed at the district office of the TDP here on Sunday when supporters of an aspirant for party ticket from Anantapur Assembly constituency stormed the office alleging that supporters of another aspirant had acted in a manner of humiliating their leader.
Naxalite killed in encounter

An Action Team Member of the PWG was killed in an exchange of fire with the police on Sunday near Polepalli village of Amangal Mandal during the course of combing operations by the police. In another incident, the Ramagundam police unearthed 10 claymores cum landmines which were concealed in a haystack at Akenaplli village of Ramagundam mandal on Sunday. Meanwhile, PWG burnt a wine shop owned by a TDP leader at Lothugedda and later damaged a private Jeep in Chintapalli mandal in Visakhapatnam district.
Tamil actor drowns in Godavari
Eluru, East Godavari
A Tamil film actor, Gajendra Martine of Villivakam in Tamil Nadu was drowned in the Godavari at Kovvuru on Sunday. According to reports, three artistes lost their balance and slipped into the river while acting for the Tamil film, while two of them reached the shore safely. A team of swimmers traced his body five hours after the mishap.

Formation day of the TDP will be celebrated on March 29th throughout the State under the aegies of constituency wise coordination committees in districts. Senior party leaders will attend the celebrations.
Huge haul of gelatin sticks recovered in Tirupati

The Railway police have taken into custody a person at the Renigunta railway station here and seized from his possession gelatin sticks and detonators. In a related incident, silver articles worth Rs.4 lakhs have also been recovered.

Teppotsavam held at Krishna river shores

The spiritual programs of Sri Tridindi Ramanuja Chinajeeyar at the shores of River Krishna reached the seventh day. The highlight of the seventh day program is the teppotsavam held for Sri Sita sametha Sri Ramachandra swamy. This teppotsvam is usually held in Aswija maasam during the Dusshera celebrations at the Indrakheeladri in the presence of Lordess Kanadurga.
