TDP candidates first list on Ugadi day

The Telugu Desam Party will come out with the first list of contesting candidates from among members of the dissolved Assembly on the occasion of Ugadi on Sunday. Speaking to newsmen, he said that it would be released after approval by the Politburo meeting. The Chief Minister said a lost of exercise had gone into the selection of candidates in the last 20 to 25 days. He thoroughly studied five or six reports on the chances of each candidate and discussed the same with his colleagues and thereafter the candidates were short listed based on their winning chance, character, mass contacts and reputation in the public.

Narrow escape for Top PWG leaders

Top leaders of the outlawed PWG had a narrow escape in exchange of fire between the police and extremists on Saturday morning near Ghanpur village in Achampetmandal. The police recovered huge haul of destructive mat4erial including six claymore mines, one grenade, 20kg gelatin power, seven live rounds of 522 pistol a communication charger battery sever water cans and three pairs of olive green dress.

CM to petition EC on curbs on schemes

The Chief Minister Mr.N.Chandra babu Naidu is upset with the Election Commission for imposing restrictions on the State Government's ongoing schemes like drinking water plans and issues concerning livelihood of the poor. In an interaction with media on Saturday, he said he was facing problems with the EC for the first time.

More forces for combing operation in Visakhapatnam

In the recent increasing violence by the outlawed PWG, the police have mobilized additional para military forces for stepping up combing operation in the districts. As of now four companies of the CRPF , two of the BSF and one of the CISF have been deployed on election duty. There is no dearth of forces as some more are expected to arrive any time in view of the elections according to SP S.K.Jain told reporters on Saturday.

TPP repeates charges on Congress - says YSR

Taking exception to the continued allegations by the Chief Minister N.Chandrbabu Naidu of the Congress-PWG nexus, the Congress on Saturday saw a clear game plan to it. In a statement the former leader of the Oppositions DR.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy said that the violence could be a mischief engineered by none other than the Chief Minister himself to gain sympathy and thereby political mileage in the elections. 'Knowing his mercurial nature and behavior we cannot but doubt it' he added.
