Chilli farmers' unrest continues in Warangal

Warangal

Tense situation prevailed for the second consecutive day at the Enumamula agricultural market with Chilli farmers' unrest continuing despite the assurances form the district collector and other officials. Helpless farmers threw stones at the Market Committee Chairman's chambers. Sensing trouble, the police prevented the farmers coming from different corners at the outskirts. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister asked the MARKFEED to procure chilies from farmers at the Minimum Support Price of Rs.2700/- per quintal immediately under the market intervention scheme.

CBI case against two postal employees

The CBI here has registered a case against the Assistant Superintendent of Posts B.Gurunadharao and the mail overseer K.Bhaskararao both based at Amadalavalasa were arrested on charges of corruption on Monday according the CBI SP Mr.A.Sai. He requested the public to lodge complaints of corrupt practices in Central Government offices or in public sector undertakings either with him at his office at MVP Colony or on phone 0891-2783333, 2783344 and 2783322. The public can also inform the CBI SP on phone numbers 040-24737268, 2473762, 247322763,(O) and 24801317 and 24015050(fax) about such cases.

Several corporators apply for Congress ticket

With only one day left for the dead line, more aspirants submitted applications for the Congress party ticket for the ensuing Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the district on Tuesday. Till this day the number of applications went up to 110. The number of applications issued for the Anakapalle Lok Sabha constituency and the rural Assembly constituencies has gone up to 174 till evening on the second day.

New DRM for East Coast Railways assumes charge
