Vigilance Squad for power theft in Visakhapatnam

A vigilance squad booked cases against eight persons for power pilferage in Vedurupalli and Jilledipudi villages of Natavaram mandal. According to a press release. The Cases involved tapping of power form LT lines for domestic and commercial purposes.The raids were conducted on Thursday.

Narcotics worth Rs.100 crores seized in Hyderabad

In the first of it kind seizure, sleuth of the Director of Intelligence have seized MDMA (Methylenedioxyethylamphetamine) drug, popularly known as 'Escastsay' and tow other drugs worth over Rs.100 crores in the international market from a clandestina laboratory at Bidar in Karanakata and a table making unit at Jeedimetla on the outskirts of Hyderabad.

Six persons, including Mumbai based finanancer, Mohan Mankani, having Dubai links, were arrested in this connection. Among other arrested is a highly qualified scientist, KSV Prasd of Hyderbad..Officials believe that Mankani, kingpin of the racket, might have smuggled out the drugs to other countries.

Addressing a press conference today, the Chennai based Additional Director General of DRI M., Veeraiyan said that the laboratory, Lime Light Drugs Private Ltd., allegedly manufacturing the highly potent Psychotropic substances in Bidar and owned by one N.Jagan Mohanarao had manufacturing MDMA power and transporting the same to Flowrence labs at Jeedimetala for 'tableting' for the lastone year.

Anil Tyagi, who was also arrested, owns the Unit at Jeedimetla.

Seven tribals killed in road accident in Nalgonda

Seven tribals, including a one year old, were killed when the lorry which they were travelling was hit by a tipper at Inupamula in the Ketherpally mandal. The family was on its way to Nakrekal to seek daily wage work, reports said.

T.Subbiramireddy as Chairman of TTD

The Congress member of Rajya Sabha, T.Subbirami Reddy is tipped for second stint as Chairman of the Tirumala Tirupati Devesatanm. His appointment for the Coveted posts is understood to have cleared by the Chief Minister. D.Sudheer Reddy, Congress corporator from Akarbagh as the Chairman of the Hyderabad Urban Development Authority.

Balakrishna for 14 days judicial remand - may shift to NIMS

Unlike his reel life court scenes that had happy endings, film actor Balakrishna's ever real life court experience turned out to be somewhat disappoint for him. Turning down Balakrishna's request that he be allowed to stay at Care Hospital on Medical grounds, the fifth Metropolitan Magistrate of Criminal Courts, M.Gandhi on Monday remanded him to judicial custody till 21st before directing the authorities to shift him to the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences for treatment.

Director of NIMS Dr. Kakarla Subba Rao said that Balakrishna is suffering from depression and that he is treated with anti-depressant drugs. He said that a special team of six doctors are taking care of Balakrishna at NIMS.

At around 10:43 AM, Actor Balakrishna was brought before the Magistrate who asked him if he wants to say anything. Balakrishna replied that he is not in a position to talk. Balakrishna asked permission to talk to his lawyer privately for 10 minutes for which the Magistrate gave permission.

Police open fire to disperse clashing groups in Ongole

The police opened fire in the air to disperse supports of Martur MLA Gottipati Ravikumar alias Bujji, and the former MLA and his cousin Gottipati Narasimha Rao when they were involved in a fracas at the RDO office premises here on Monday.

According to eyewitness accounts, trouble began when Mr.Narasimharao and the Adanki MLA Karanam Balaramakrisha Murty along with to Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency members arrived at the office around 10.30am to submit a notice for no confidence against the Ballikurava Mandal Praja Parishad President P.Subbarao stranuch follower of Mr.Ravikumar.

On seeing them Mr.Ravikmar's supporters turned violent and pelted stones on the vehicles of Mr.Narasimharao and Mr.Balaram. As a result, the windscreen of Mr.Rao's vehicle got damaged. The police rushed to the spot and sensing trouble the Town Circle Inspector G.Ramakotesararao opened four rounds of fire in the air.

TDP Councilor murdered

Ananthapur

A TDP ward councilor of Dharmavaram Municipality was bombed and hacked to death by his rivals near the municipal office in the town on Monday afternoon. The Police said five assailants attacked Salim Bash councilor of 28th ward, with countrymade bombs, when he was coming out of the office. He tried to escape by running into nearby lanes but the assailants chased him and hacked him preparedly.
