Self-styled naxal killed

A self styled naxalite was hacked to death by three persons in broad day light near a cinema Theatre in Armor town.
Attempt to murder case against Cine actor Balakrishna
Hyderabad
The city police registered cases under section 307 of IPC and 25 and 27 of the Indian Arms Act against film actor Balakrishna in connection with the shooting incident in his Jubilee Hills house last night even as the condition of the injured persons B.Suresh, film producer and Satyanarayana Chowdary, astrologer continued to be critical.
Though prima facie evidence pointed the needle of suspicion towards Balakrishna, investigation was hampered in the absence of a statement from the injured persons and the man in question. All the three were not in a position to narrate the sequence of events that shook the tinsel world.
Attack on VC: ex-MLA, former teacher held
Hyderabad
The former Telugu Desam legislator, Pinniniti Varalakshmi, and a former teacher of Andhra University, Prof.Surappudu, were arrested by the city police on Friday in connection the assault on the university vice-chancellor, Simhadri, in the Assembly premises on Wednesday. Later, the former MLA was released on bail. However Prof.Surapppadu was remanded to judicial custody till June 18th.
Conciliation panel to initiate talks with naxals
Hyderabad
As a part of its efforts to find a lasting solution to the extremist problem, the Andhra Pradesh Government has announced that a conciliation committee is being constituted with eminent persons to initiate talks and stop rewards on naxalites killed encounters with the police.
Making a statement on the law and order situation in the Assembly, the Home Minister said that the Government believed that the extremist problem should viewed from a larger socio-economic perspective, and tackled holistically.
Five farmers commit suicide
In various areas five farmers commit suicide. In Kurnool two farmers, in Guntur one farmer and in Adilabad and Vizianagaram each . All these deaths are due to financial reasons or crop failure.
Food poisoning one dead and 55 taken ill
Tirupati
An old woman died and fifty-five others were taken ill after they allegedly consumed food in a marriage feast in Venkataramapuram village in Puttur constituency. According to reports the victims consumed meat at a jatara in a neighboring village. An enquiry has been ordered.
RTC staff gesture to ryots

A delegation of APSRTC employees on Friday handed over to the Chief Minister a cheque for Rs.2.2 crores, to the CM's Relief Fund for effective implementation of welfare schemes for farmers.
NTR's second son dead
Hyderabad
Sai Krishna, second son of the former Chief Minister, N.T.Rama Rao, died at Kamineni hospital here on Friday. He was in coma for the last two years.
Manipulation of SSC ranks alleged

The AP Private Educational Institutions Managements Association has alleged manipulation in the granting of marks and top ranks in the SSC examination and has demanded an enquiry into the valuation of the scripts of top rankers.
Tributes paid to Baga Reddy
Hyderabad
The Governor, Surjit Singh Barnala expressed grief over the death of M.Bagareddy former MP and Minister. In a condolence message, he described Reddy as a 'sweet natured' Congress leader who was in active public life for over four decades.
The Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy paid rich tributes to Reddy. The leader of the Opposition N.Chandrababu Naidu laid wreats on Reddy's body at his residence.
