Film Actor Balakrishna fires at producer and associate
Hyderabad
The noted film actor Mr.Balakrishna was alleged to have fired at a film producer B Suresh and his associate, Satyanarayana Chowdary with his revolver at his house in Jubilee hills on Thursday night. Both the injured were admitted in Apollo Hospital and were said to be critical having got bullet injuries.Mr.Balakrishna himself got admitted to Care Hospital complaining of hand injury.The victims have not mentioned anybody name who shot at them.
Attack on VC finds echo in city

The developments following the 'manhandling' of the VC of Andhra University on the Assembly premises in Hyderabad on Wednesday were followed closely here. The students and teaching staff are discussing about the incident. The SC and ST students of Andhra University took exception to the TDP condemning the attack on a 'Dalit'(Prof.Simhadri). They said the professor, despite being a dalit had harmed the interest of Dalits on the campus and alleged that a majority of students who were refused admission into the college or accommodation to the hostels due to his reforms were Dalits.The district committee of CITU demanded the removal of Prof.Simhadri and restoration of trade and student union activity in the campus.

Two persons doused themselves with kerosene and attempted to commit suicide in front of the Executive Officer's office on Thursday protesting against the injustice meted to them in giving compensation for their land acquired for a temple. However, people foiled their attempt
Eight die in road mishaps
Nellore
Five members of a marriage party died and five others sustained injuries when the van in which they were travelling rammed into a stationary lorry near Pellakuru in Nellore district on Thursday. In a similar incident, in Nalgonda three persons of a marriage party were killed and six others hospitalized when the tractor traller in which they were travelling overturned at Pullagudem in Atmakur mandal on Thursday.
Harassment drives man to suicide

A SC person committed suicide by jumping into a well allegedly due to harassment by the local Congress leaders at Midtur in Kurnool district on Thursday. According to reports, the local Congress leaders were allegedly harassing the family for not supporting in the recent elections.
Seven more ryots commit suicide

In various incidents, seven more ryots commit suicide due to debt ridden or crop failure in Cuddapah, Nizamabad, Nalgonda, Anthatapur and Mahabubnagar
Hospital user charged being abolished
Hyderabad
User charges collected from patients seeking treatment in Government Hospitals will be done away with immediately. The decision to abolish the controversial user charges was taken at the meeting presided over by the Chief Minister today as it was felt that most people visiting Government hospitals were either poor or belonged to the weaker sections. The meeting was attended by the Principal Secretary, Medical and Health, the Director of Medical Education and others.
