Prime Minister to visit Andhra Pradesh on July 1st
Hyderabad
The Prime Minister, Mr. Manmohan Singh will be visiting the State on July 1st to review the situation in the wake of spurt in farmers' suicide and also console the bereaved families.

During the meeting with the District Collectors, the Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy said on Saturday that he had requested the Prime Minister to visit atleast two districts for an appraisal of the situation.

This is the first visit of Mr. Manmohan Singh to Andhra Pradesh after becoming the Prime Minister of India.
Safety Award for NTPC

The prestegious National Thermal Power Corporation, Simhadri Project has bagged the Greentech safety award for the year 2003-04 instituted by Greentech Foundation, New Delhi. The Foundation president Kamaleswar Sharan, presented the award to Deputy General Manager (Safety) N.Ramakrishna at a function held at Goa.

NTPC Simhadri Project has been one of the major source of power and operates from Pravada mandal in Visakhapatam.
TDP President attack on Diwakar Reddy

The Telugu Desam Party President N Chandrababu Naidu had demanded the sacking of the Panchayat Raj Minister, JC Diwakar Reddy in the background of continuous attacks on TDP workers by their Congress rivals in Anantapur district. He said, while speaking to reporters, the TDP has got many doubts about the failure of Law and Order situation and immediate intervention of the Chief Minister. In Penugonda, Another Telugu Desam Party leader was hacked to death allegedly by Congress rivals.

Over five hundred farmers staged a Rasta rook on the National Highway at Mydukur demanding immediate release of water to the KC Canal ayacut in Cuddapah district.
Hike in the monthly allowance for disabled
Hyderabad
The State Government has decided to hike the monthly subsistence allowances being paid to the differently to the disabled from Rs.75 to Rs.225. Orders to this effect would be issued shortly according to Disabled Welfare Commissioner on Saturday.
CID probe urged on Anantapur activities
Anantapur
The politburo members of the Telugu Desam Party, C.Ramachandraiah and K.Kalavenkatarao have accused the Congress Government on unleashing terror in villages by killing the TDP activists. They demanded a CID probe into the killing of Six TDP men in the violence after the elections in the district.
