Chief Minister unveils second package for farmers

With suicide by farmers continuing unabated even after the announcement of a financial package, the Chief Minister Dr.Y.S.Rajasekharareddy has unveiled a second package this time preventing "potential victims" from taking extreme step. According to details of the scheme finalized at an official meeting on Friday a sum of Rs.50,000 would be given to the family of the potential victim for clearing loans taken from different sources, including local money lenders as one time settlement and another Rs.1 lakh towards the family's daily needs and for resuming farming.
State Cabinet swearing-in program on Saturday

In a sudden turn to the political developments in the State, the Chief Minister's announcement that he would constitute his Ministry on May 22nd and asked officials to make arrangements for the swearing in ceremony at 11.46am on Saturday.

Dr.Reddy's decision took everyone by surprise since he had declared at a press conference on Friday evening that the Ministry making exercise would take place on Monday. Officials of the Police, General Administration, Information and Public Relations and other departments, who were gearing themselves up slowly for next week's function, started work at a frenetic pace at Raj Bhavan where the Governor, S.S.Barnala would administer the oath to the new Ministers. Invitations to the media were not printed until well past midnight. The Chief Minster was all set to go over to New Delhi to attend the swearing in ceremony of the Prime Minister-designate and his council of ministers on Sunday evening. The change in schedule followed a message from the AICC that he should witness the function at Rastharapathi Bhavan. Arrangements would be made to fly him to Delhi in such an eventuality.

As soon as the AICC'S decision was conveyed to him, Dr.Reddy changed his plans to take the morning flight to the Capital and got down to the business Cabinet expansion here.
Seven more farmers commit suicide

Seven more farmers committed suicide due to debt burden in Khammam, Anantapur, West Godavari, Nizamabad and Krishna districts taking their death roll to 21 since the change of the Government in the State.
Chandrababu Naidu cheers up Kuppam voters

The former Chief Minister N.Chandrababunaidu cheered up his constituents in Kuppam and told them not to get disheartened and instead act with renewed vigor to wrest it back. He said that 'it is a common thing in a democracy like ours'.
D. Nagender submits resignation to his MLA post

Mr. D Nagender, MLA elected on TDP ticket has submitted his resignation for the post of MLA and handed over the same to the Speaker on Monday citing personal reasons. He also submitted his resignation for the party also; the resignation letter was handed over to the TDP president N.Chandrababu Naidu.
Moratorium on farmers related debts

A bill seeking to declare a six months moratorium on farm related debts of farmers taken from the private lenders was put forth in the Assembly. The bill was passed in the Assembly. However, loans taken from the public sector as well private sector banks, cooperative banks will not come under this purview. After six months, the Government will consider to review to continue or not according to reliable sources.
Peoples War Group welcomes Government ceasefire

The People's War while hailing the Government's acceptance of its demands for holding talks, has announced that it will also follow three month 'cease-fire' beginning from June 16th. In a press statement issued on Monday, the Polit Bureau member, Prakash disclosed that the Central Committee has decided to nominate its secretary, Ramakrishna as the official nominee for the proposed talks.
Naxalite surrenders in Karimnagar

Engineering counselling from July 14th

Counselling for admission into engineering colleges is likely to begin on July 14th. The counselling will be held simultaneously in Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Tirupati and Warangal.

MCA girl hacked to death in broad daylight
Vijayawada
Sri Lakshmi - an MCA final year student was hacked to death allegedly by her classmate in Sarada Post Graduate College on Monday. The girl R.Srilakshmi was waiting with others in a room for her turn for viva-voce. One Mr.Manohar, a classmate of Sri Laxmi, was accused of attacking her with a heavy knife striking three fatal blows on the neck and head and fled the scene. The police are investigating the case.
Cycle rally by TDP against petrol hike

The Telugu Desam Party organized a cycle rally from the NTR Gardens to the Assembly on Monday in protest against the hike in the prices of petrol, diesel and LPG. The rally was organized by its president N.Chandrababu Naidu.
Good response to Collector's Spandana programme in Visakhapatnam

The District Collector, Pravin Prakash who assumed charged a few days, he announced Spandana programme for which a very good response has come. Nearly ninety petitions were received by the District Collector and all these were fed into the computer and forwarded the same to the concerned official for immediate necessary action.

Candidates who have not received their hall tickets for the Common Entrance Examination for Polytechnics (CEEP-2004) to be held on May 24th may received duplicate hall tickets by logging on to http: sbtet.apnic.in in the SBTET website or by contacting the Principal of Government Polytechnic here in person according to a press release.
CBSE results on SMS

The Central Board of Secondary Education has asked C-net to announce the results of the Board Exam for Classes 10 to 12 on SMS through mobile phones and website. The service which would be available from noon on the day of declaration could be utilized by sending an SMS to 7827 on all mobile networks across the country. The keywords for Class 10 results are CBSE10 Roll N. and CBSE12 Roll No for Class 12 results.
