Court adjourns Muslim case for 2nd August
Hyderabad
The State Government had issued a GO on July 12th providing 5% reservations for Muslims in the field of education and public employment. Various petitions were filed and the court after hearing the petitions filed challenging the validity of providing reservations to Muslims in the State was adjourned to August 2nd by five judge Bench of the AP High court on Tuesday.
CBI probe ordered in Konaseema project issue
Hyderabad
After a heated debated on the favours shown to the Konaseema Power Project promoters who have allegedly paid a sum of Rs.3 crores, the Chief Minister, YS.Rajasekhara Reddy conceded the demand by the ruling party and its allies to probe into the issue by CBI on Tuesday.
Dengue cases in Khammam district
Khammam
Two cases of dengue fever have been reported in Khammam town putting the administration and medical and health machinery on full alert in the district. According to reports reaching here, the District Medical and Health Officer, Krishna Brahmam said that the situation was discussed with the District Collector, Aravind Kumar. He said that there was no need for any alarm and some 20 health assistants were already deployed in the areas affected in Khammam for the on the spot survey.
Strike in the Vizag Port continues as talks fail
Visakhapatnam
Loading and unloading operations in the Visakhapatnam Port came to a stand still on the strike of the Port workers. Talks convened by the Labour Department on Tuesday ended in a dead lock with the both the Management and the unions sticking to their stand over the engagement of labour.The General Secretary of the Visakhapatnam Harbour and Port Workers’ Union said the Visakhapatnam Port Trust Management did not yield to the demand of the unions.
PW emissaries' plea

The Emissaries of the People's War for talks with the Government have appealed to people to make success the proposed public meeting to pay tributes to slain naxalites at Warangal on July 28th at 4pm. In a statement, they said a memorial being constructed at Mogilicherla Village for naxalites who lost lives in the movement would be inaugurated on the same day.
Chief Minister to lay stone for Yellampalli project.
Hyderabad
The Chief Minister, YS.Rajasekhara Reddy will lay the foundation stone for the Yellampalli project in Murmur village in Ramagundam mandal on Wednesday evening. The project was conceived to utilise surplus Godavari waters. The former Union Minister Ch.Vidayasagararao had also demanded that the Government should finish the project and dedicate it in memory of Sripadarao who was killed by naxals. The Government had decided to take up the project and name it Sripadasagar
MLAs pension hiked

The Chief Minister, YS.Rajasekhara Reddy has announced that the monthly pension for former MLAs will be increased to Rs.4,000/-pm for those who served for a single term and to Rs.6,500 for those who served for more than one term.
Mogilicherla ready for its functions

Hectic arrangements have been made at Mogilicherla where the People War naxals and sympathizers. The Home Minister had given permission to the PW to conduct the function in a peaceful manner. He clarified that the naxals should not carry weapons to the function and the Minister requested them to organize the function in a peaceful atmosphere. The Home Minister said that the Government is ready to provide police protection if they requested so.
