Chief Minister leaves for Australia
Hyderabad
The Chief Minister YS.Rajasekhara Reddy along with the Minister for Major Irrigation, Ponna Laxamiah will leave for Australia for five day visit on 1st August to clinch a Rs3,400 crores deal with the Australian Government for new irrigation projects in the State. The Chief Minister told the reporters on Friday that the Government planned to launch the Dummugudem project straightway.
All-Party meeting decides to wait for judgment
Hyderabad
The GO on Muslim quota which is pending in the court of law, the Chief Minister called on all party meeting on Thursday to take necessary steps in view of the legal hurdles. All party leaders except the BJP has decided to wait for the final verdict of the Judgment and in the event of negative judgment, the party decides to place an ordinance to replace the GO. The meeting has decided to wait and watch the proposal.
Two convicted for dowry harassment
Visakhapatnam
The Third Metropolitan Magistrate on Friday found P.Shiva Kumar and his mother guilty of harassing his wife for additional dowry found convicted each of them to undergo two years of RI and a fine of Rs.5000/-.
PMRY interviews
Hyderabad
The second round of interviews for selecting candidates under the PMRY scheme for 2004-05 for urban areas of Visakhapatnam would be held from Monday to 31st July according to a press release by District Industries Centre.

IICT scientist gets Ghosh Award
Hyderabad
Prakash V.Diwan, Deputy Director and Head of Pharmacology Division, Indian Institute of Chemical Technology have been awarded the Prof.BN.Ghosh Oration Award by Indian Pharmacological Society and has been honoured as an "Eminent Pharmacologist". The award will be conferred at the 37th Annual Pharmacology Conference scheduled to be held at Kolkata in January 2005.
Lakshman surrenders to Court
Warangal
In a remarkable development, the wanted person in the killing of two of his PW comrades Lakshman surrendered before the III Additional Munsif Magistrate with Rs.6 lakhs cash on Friday. Lakshman sprange a surprise by surrendering before the Magistrate. He sought protection from both the PW and Police.
Vivekananda Reddy reconsiders his decision

After returning from New Delhi, Mr. Vivekananda Reddy on Friday clarified that he is not resigning from the MP post and will continue till his full term.
