Chief Minister assures support to IT industry
Hyderabad
The Chief Minister, Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy addressing a meeting organized by the National Software and Services Companies on Friday has assured that full support will be extended to the Software and IT companies in the State. He said, he was very happy about the growth rate and the sector should strive to make Andhra Pradesh the foremost destination of IT. He said that the Government would conduct the fourth version of GITEX from January 12th to 14th. NASSCOM recommends in the areas of power, mass transportation system, good roads and an airport with international connectivity.
Farmer suicides continues
Despite the assurances given by the State Government and also the Prime Minister in the recent visit to the State, suicide by farmers continues. Seven farms end their lives due to debts and crop failure etc. in Nizamabad, Rajahmundry, Cuddapah and Anantapur.
Power connections to farmers

The Finance Minister, K.Rosaiah announced in the Assembly that Fifty thousand new electricity connections will be given to farmers this year and a Right to Information Bill will be introduced in the Assembly soon.

Unions oppose privatization

The Dock Labour Board National Employees has appealed to the Union Minister, P.Chidamabaram to ensure that there is no privatization of profit making and strategic public sector undertakings. The Union General Secretary said in a statement that the All India Trade Union Congress at its recent meeting had decided to prevail upon the Centre to consider the issue whiling finalizing the budget.

Review on Pulse Polio drive

District Collector Praveen Prakash in a review meeting on the Pulse Polio held on Thursday said that any child was susceptible to the disease as long as some children were left out of the programme, as they carried the virus. He stressed the need to achieve cent percent coverage of all children in 0-5 years age group through the mass immunization programme to eradicate the disease. He urged the officials to participate actively in the programme and make it successful.
