Hundreds siege Prakasam barrage in protest

The Telugu Desam Party, the BJP and the Federation of Farmers' Association have siege the Prakasam Barrage demanding the State Government order the release of 3,000 cusecs of water to the Krishna delta before July 21st to allow farmers to raise seed beds. Activists of the political parties and the federation laid a siege to the Prakasam barrage here from 10am to 2pm today to bring pressure on the Government to release water. The parties threatened to bring traffic on all highways in the State to a halt from July 21st if the Government did not concede their demand of releasing water to Krishna delta.
All Party team to Delhi on Alamatti Dam issue

Under the leadership of the Chief Minister, YS Rajasekhara Reddy, all party delegation to the Prime Minister on July 22nd to seek release of 50 TMC water from Alamatti dam to meet the pressing needs of the Krishna Delta.
Excellent response for SPANDANA programme

Overwhelming response to the 'Spandana' programme, the District Collector, Praveen Prakash, who was mobbed by people who made a beeline to the Collectorate, himself received petitions outside his chambers on Monday. The petitions consisting of right form dowry harassment to land encroachment cases and allotment of house sites etc., Out side the Collectorate dharna programmes were organized separate by the Andhra University employees demanding recall of the VC and the port workers for recruitment of children of the deceased employees.
Dalits consume pesticide at Collectorate
Ongole
Six Dalits of Vengamukkalapalem in Ongole mandal here attempted suicide by consuming pesticide in the Collectorate protesting against the alleged indifference on the part of officials in sorting out a dispute over a piece of land assigned to them way back in 1970 on outskirts of the town. They threatened the Collector B.Udayalakshmi if their problem is not solved immediately. They were shifted immediately to the nearby hospital and two were rushed to District Head quarters hospital for better treatment.
NIMS upgradation cleared
Hyderabad
The Planning Commission has cleared the proposal to upgrade the NIMS was cleared by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences according to the Finance Minister, K.Rosaiah. He said, NIMS was one of the six medical institutions in the country to be identified by the Centre for upgrading to the status of AIIMS.
Four Revenue officials suspended
Hyderabad
One MRO and three employees were suspended in connection with allotment of Government Land to ineligible persons at Kandukr in Prakasam district.
