27 killed in road accident at Tirupati
Tirupati
In three different accidents, 27 persons were killed and six others were severely injured on Sunday. The pilgrim party traveling in a Quails van bound to Tirumala consisting of 17 members reportedly collided head on with a private bus while overtaking a vehicle. In another accident in the district near Kalllur 11 persons died on the spot when the jeep in which they were traveling rammed a lorry from Tamilnadu. In another incident, one Vijayananda Reddy of Chittoor was killed on the spot when the car in which he was driving hit a lorry near Panapakam.
Varuna yagam begins in Visakhapatnam

The Three day Varuna yagam to invoke the rain god, began at the Prahlada Prayer Hall on Sunday morning. Swami Swarropananadendra Saraswathi of Sri Sarada Peetham inaugurated the ritual. The TTD Chairman T.Subbiramireddy and other MLAs attended the yagam.

Clashes cause 8 hurt

Eight persons were injured when rival three stones and later country bombs at them when they were traveling in a lorry at Bandeelabavi between Darsi and Kurichedu on Sunday. Group clashes are said to be the reasons for the attack.
Cloud seeding – arrangements begins in Hyderabad

Two aircraft of the Agni Aviation which have been engaged by the State Government to undertake cloud seeding programme – Meghamadhanam from Wednesday are expected on Sunday night and the concerned radar station would be ready at Nandayal in Kurnool district by Monday afternoon according to the Agricultural Minister N.Raghuveera Reddy.

In the video conference with the district collectors of the 10 districts where the programme is to be implemented for 105 days, the Minister said that the aircraft would be despatched to inject 'silver iodide' wherever clouds were available within an aerial radius of 250 kms. from the radar.
Master plan for viral fever
Visakhapatnam
The district administration has prepared a master plan to control the spread of viral fever in the Agency. Under the plan, the Agency has been divided into various pockets and 55 school buildings have been identified to accommodate special teams which will camp there and fan out into interior villages every morning. The drive will commence on Monday. Doctors and paramedical staff will stay there and extend medical facilities to control the viral fever.
