Chief Minister to lead All-Party team to Delhi

The Chief Minister, YS.Rajasekhara Reddy will lead an all party delegation to Delhi to urge the Prime Minister for the release of 50tmc ft of Krishna water from Karnataka. The Chief Minister will request him to use his good offices to convince the Karnataka Government of the need to release of 50 tmc of water to tide over the crisis overtaking farmers in the Krishna delta area on account of three years of drought and acute drinking water.
Insurance for Journalists

The Chief Minister, YS.Rajasekhara Reddy will inaugurate the health insurance scheme for journalists on August 15th. The Minister for information and Public Relations, Ali Shabir Mohd, said at a press conference on Saturday that the department had already released Rs.18 lakhs towards the Government share of premium. Initially, the scheme would be applicable only to accredited correspondents, photographers and those from electronic media.
Three died due to lightning

Three girls who were engaged in paddy transplantation in a field near Samarlkota died when lightning struck on them on Saturday. Two others sustained injuries, who were admitted in a hospital.

State Government asks Center for funding Krishna Pushakarams

The State Government will seek Rs.100 crores from the Centre as a grant for Krishna Pushakarams to be held from August 28th to September 8th. The Endowments Minister M.Satayanarayana Rao speaking with reporters, said he is hopeful of getting a positive response from the Centre.
