Prime Minister releases Rs 60 crores from Calamity fund
Hyderabad
The Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, during his visit to the State expressed his Government's support to the distressed farmers of Andhra Pradesh and announced release of Rs.60 crores from the Calamity Relief fund and Rs.1.82 lakhs tonnes of food grains under the Food-for-Work programme. He said that the Centre would bring forward a new Seed Act to regulate and standardize the quality of seeds and provide a mechanism for penalties for violation of norms.

The Sub postmaster of Peda Pavani in Linga Samudram mandal in Prakasam district was caught on Thursday by the Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) while accepting Rs.1,000/- as bribe according to CBI Superintendent of Police, A.Sai Manohar.
Gaddar seeks withdrawal of security allocated to him
Hyderabad
Gaddar who is one of the key persons in negotiating talks between PW and the Government has decided to seek withdrawal of police security which was given to him while seeking a probe into the attack on him in the past. To this effect, a letter was addressed to the Home Minister, Jana Reddy on Thursday that he had to take care of some responsibilities.

The decision of the Vijayawada Bar Association not to take up the case of Manohar in Sri Lakshmi murder case, the Andhra Pradesh Lok Ayukta. R.Ramanujam said the very purpose of a judicial system is defeated if he is not given a fair chance to defend with an advocate. He said that it was not for the advocates to judge a person accused of a crime or not and the court will decide.

Two naxalites of the People's War's Indervelli Local Guerrilla Squad surrendered on Thursday. According to reports, Naveen and his wife Poshakka surrendered to the Utnoor Police and these two were carrying a reward of one lakh rupees.
CM for ryot friendly measures

The Chief Minister, Dr.YS Rajasekhara Reddy on Thursday in an interaction with the Prime Minister suggested the need for modifying the comprehensive crop insurance scheme to suit the needs of the farmers.

He also stressed an insurance scheme covering bore wells since a large number of farmers caught in a debt trap after the bore wells had failed. The Prime Minister interacted and consoled the families of ryots who committed suicides and promised the Chief Minister all available help will be extended to the State Government.
