| TDP plans to release draft manifesto |

Hyderabad In the first meeting of the party's manifesto committee held on Sunday discussed the broad outline of the proposed manifesto focusing on the development of agriculture, irrigation and industries among others. In a novel move the TDP is planning to release a 'draft manifesto'in the first week of February and invite suggestions from people for incorporating 'then in the final version which will be released around February 18th ahead of the 'Vijayabheri'. |

Hyderabad Heavy gales and rain disrupted power supply in several parts of the twin cities on Sunday, especially from the later in the afternoon towards the evening. An official spokesman of the AP Central Power Distribution Company Ltd., said 60 to 417 feeders in the twin cities had been affected in the gale and rain. |

Vizianagaram At a press conference on Sunday Mr.Konam Raju, district Tourism Officer said that a hill top road to Punyagiri shrine in S.Kota mandal will be laid on January 28th at a cost of Rs.6lakhs. He said the work will be completed by Sivaratri when lakhs of devotees would converge on the hill shrine. He said that a proposal to develop Thatipudi reservoir project as a tourist attraction was already approved by the Government and an NRI had agreed to invest Rs.29crores in phases for constructing resorts, craft villages etc., |
| Demand for appointment of Panchayat volunteers |

Vizianagaram The district Panchayat Secretaries Association has demanded that the Government appoint Panchayat volunteers on the lines of vidya volunteers for effective functioning of village secretariat system. The Panchayat secretaries have been burdened with 64 subjects including revenue and tax collection. And a secretary was also being made to work as in charge for three or four Panchayats burdening him further. |

Anantapur CLP leader Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy had accused the Chief Minister Mr.Naidu of swindling funds in all programmes and schemes. He also blamed Mr.Naidu for disposing of industries in the Government sector and withdrawal of subsidies to the farming and other sectors. He said the funds of the Central Government schemes like SJRY, FFW and others were being utilized for the benefit of their men. Instead of executing the works by the Panchayat Raj bodies the TDP Government had been giving the works on nomination basis to TDP leaders. |

Hyderabad Speaking at a press conference on Sunday Nirmala Sitaraman, Member of National Commission for women said every organisation and institution where men and women work together should have a fully functional complaints committee on sexual harassment as per the Supreme Court's directive. The Apex court stated that every organisation and department should have one such committee headed by a women with at least half of its members being women. |
| House boating soon in Hyderabad |

Hyderabad 'House boating" a new concept in recreation, will be launched by the AP Tourism Development Corporation. Six boats are being readied under the Konaseema Resort project for ferrying people from Ravulapuram downstream to Shivakodi Lanka island. Each boat will accommodate two couples. They can stay for 24 to 48 hours in the boat and camp at the island. The one and half crore project will be commissioned in May according to the Tourism Minister T.Srinivas Yadav |

Karimnagar The district administration is making elaborate arrangements for the three day Mahasivarathri jatara from February 17to 19th at the Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Devasthanams in the temple town of Vemulawada. In view of the Medaram jatara, it is expected that a majority of the pilgrims will pay a visit to the Vemulawada temple shrine and then proceed to Medaram. Pilgrims to a tune of 5 lakhs have already arrived Vemulawada. |
