Gunfoundoury will be shortly excavated to unearth the original surface of the foundry where casting of grounds and cannons was undertaken during the Asfjahi period. The department of Archaeology has worked out a detailed plan for excavation, conservation and restoration of the only surviving foundry in the State Capital. It is proposed to illuminate the entire place after proper landscaping to make it tourist friendly. The cost of the project is estimated to Rs.6.5 lakhs.

AU robot for Mumbai display

New beach resort to come up near Bhimili

A new resort is coming up near Jodugullapalem on the Visakhapatnam - Bhimili beach road as a part of the Government initiative to promote tourism. Destiny Clubs, a Rs.2.15 crore project has been sanction to the City of Destiny Clubs and Resorts on a BOT basis by the Department of Tourism. It is the first of the seven such projects and the promoter has been given 12 months time to complete the work.

Cycle expedition flagged off

An 11 member cycle expedition of the Coast Guard to Kakinada was flagged off by Saroja Prasad, President of the Tatraksjhika (Organisation of the wives of Coast Guard officers) here on Saturday. The Expedition was organized as part of the Coast Guard's anniversary celebrations to create awareness among fishermen about their safety at sea, equipment to be carried while on fishing voyage, conservation of marine wealth, the toll free Coast Guard helpline telephone number 1718 and other aspects.

Naxals blast house of deceased TDP leader

Nearly 18 armed naxalites including two women of PWG blasted the house of the deceased TDP leader and former RESCO chairman Y.Ravindra Reddy. In this connection it may be recalled that the deceased was shot dead by naxalites at Reddivaripalle village on September 28th, 2002. after being branded police informant.

IT collection good this fiscal

Addressing a press conference after reviewing the performance of Tirupati Commissionerate, The Chief Commissioner of Income Tax III, Hyderabad said that the net collection in the State as on December 31st,2003 has touched 73 percent of the budget target of Rs.3438 crores for the fiscal 2003-04 as against last year's Rs.2873.

Attach on CM at Tirupati - 2 suspected naxals shot dead
