Mr.N.Chandra babu Naidu formally kicked of election campaign at the Government Arts college ground here on Monday by inaugurating the TDP flag festival which is being organized by the party in all the 294 Assembly constituencies in the State. This is the first time after the Alipiri attack that the Chief Minister had lead a cycle rally covering a distance of 4km.
Kakinada
The Telugu Desam motor cycle rally in the Amalapuram constituency on Monday witnessed violence with one of the TDP activists being waylaid and hacked to death on his way back and his supporters attacking some shops and ransacking some other establishments at Amalapuram. The situation suddenly became tense at Amalapuram town in the evening with TDP activists bringing the body of N. Sankar and placing it in front of the Police station raising slogans demand the arrest of the culprits responsible for the murder.
Visakhapatnam
Vandemataram-the nationwide programme aimed at improving ante and post-natal care which was launched here on Monday evokes good response. About 100 pregnant women turned up. Inaugurating the programme the Joint Collector said that the scheme would help bring about a change in health seeking behavior of expectant and new mothers and create awareness in the family as well as community on safe motherhood.
Hyderabad
The former leader of Opposition Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy has complained to the Chief Election Commissioner on the 'misuse of official machinery' by the caretaker Government in Andhra Pradesh while seeking a halt to it.
Kakinada
The former MLA of the Sampara Assembly constituency and her husband a former district TDP secretary have tendered their resignation from active membership of the TDP in protest against alleged continued insults meted out to them by district party leaders.
Hyderabad
Members of the Federation of Government Residential Teachers and Employees' Organisation on Monday took out a protest rally and staged a dharna to press their demands including regularization of services of the teachers appointed on contract basis.
Visakhapatnam
The PWG naxalites made an attempt to attack the Annavaram and Gudem Kotha Veedhi police stations in the agency areas of the district on Sunday night. No one is reported injured in the gun battle.
Anantapur
The Prime Minister will arrive at Puttaparthi on February 11 on a two day visit to he spiritual town. According to the tentative programme he will return to Delhi on February 12th.
