Hyderabad Conceding a long pending and persistent demand of pensioners, the State Cabinet on Tuesday sanctioned release of five installments of dearness allowance to retired Government employees due since July 1st, 2001. The Cabinet also showered quite a few other election eve sops notable among them being sanction of Rs.116.4 crores toward half of interim relief to the Singareni staff due from July 1st 2001 to December 31st 2003. Pending finalization of Joint Bipartite Committee on Coal industry at the national level. |
| Helicopters to airlift polling material |

Hyderabad The Andhra Pradesh Government will use military helicopters to airlift polling material to and from polling stations situated in highly inaccessible villages and forest areas where PWG naxalites continue to hold away. The Centre also cleared the proposal and in all probability a dozen choppers would be kept at the disposal of the State Government during the general election. |
