If the proposal found favour with the public, the Government would have no objection to implementing the scheme, he told the reporters. Governor will take part in RINL fete

The Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd., (RINL) the corporate entity of the public sector Visakhapatnam Steel Plant will celebrate the turnaround it had achieved during last fiscal in a big way on February 17 and 18th. The function also coincides with the RINL Formation day which falls on 18th. The Governor will be the chief guest on the occasion while the Union Minister of State for Steel will preside over the function.

Two year's for attempt to bribe Collector

In a rare case a Government employee was punished for offering a bribe to his superior. A former deputy Executive Engineer of the Panchayat Raj Department of Khammam was sentenced to undergo two years' rigorous imprisonment and pay Rs.1000/- as he has found guilty of offer bribe to the then District Collector on June 8th, 1999 according to a press release.
Naxalite killed in encounter

A Naxalite was killed in an exchange of fire with the police in the forest area of Kothaguda Mandal in the wee hours of Sunday according to the SP. The police recovered a rifle and other material from the spot.
JAC plans agitation

In a press release the Andhra Pradesh Join Action Committee of employees, teachers and workers has resolved to organize agitation if the State Government failed to issue orders on the Pay Revision Commission within two days and take a decision on the release of five DA installments to pensioners before February 20th.
Arms unearthed in Khammam

The police unearthed an arms dump of the CPIML (New Democracy) dalams near Surveytanda in Yellandu Sub division on Sunday. Seven weapons and 350 rounds of ammunition were seized.
Port workers reject compromise formula

The Commissioner of Ports after the three hour long discussions with the deep water port management, handling agents, anchorage port workers union leaders and the steel barge owners evolved a compromise formula on solving the row over the handling of iron ore cargo. Saturday night's meeting was marked by emotional outbursts form the workers who staged a walkout in protest.
