The popular Telugu film comedian and character artiste A.V.Subramaniam popularly known as AVS joined the Telugu Desam Party in the presence of its president N. Chandrababu Naidu at the NTR Bhavan today.
Government firm on uranium plant

Notwithstanding the Pollution Control Board's reported firm 'no' to the Uranium Corporation of India Ltd., proposal to set up uranium mining unit and processing plant at Lambapur-Peddagattu and Mallapuram villages respectively in the district, the State Government determined to go ahead with it. Not cowed down by the Technical Committee's observations and the PWGs threats, the Government wants to give the green signal to the mining operations.

In a step towards further approachment, the Congress heavyweights from Cuddapah Dr Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy and the former Kamalapuram MLA M.V.Mysoora Reddy held frank discussions at Pulivendula on Sunday. The discussions between these two assumed significance because they spoke to each other for the first time since the party was plunged into a crisis following reports that three senior leaders were contemplating quitting the Congress. However, the details of the discussions were kept a secret.
Ancient temple unearthed in Anantapur

Remains of Shiva temple belonging to the Vijayanagara period was unearthed in the agriculture fields at Kandukuru in Anantapur rural mandal about 15km from here three days ago. The villagers found the tip of a 'Nandi' (bullock) idol when they were trying to pluck out the roots of thorny plants by digging inside. As they found a tip of the idol they started excavating out of curiosity and unearthed the Nandi idol. The devotees of Shiva deekasha currently took up excavation at the site and unearthed an idol of 'Shiva lings' stone carvings of fish, tortoise and other animals and other stone supports of the temple.

The Chairperson of the Bhimavaram Municipal Council M.Narayanamma of the TDP has attracted the wrath of opposition councilors at a meeting for alleged misuse of her official position.
Minister warns TDP cadre against sabotage

Addressing a meeting of the district party on Sunday, the Minister for Prohibition and Excise T.Sitaram has warned of stern action against cadres not joining hands to help the Telugu Desam Party will all the 12 Assembly seats in the district. He said no illusions should be nursed that since it is election time those taking unilateral decisions would be cajoled. Party men should weigh every word before being uttered he said.
