Constable killed on Duty

G..Ramakrishna an excise constable who is on duty of serving summons on Tuesday disappeared and found dead on the banks of Godavari on Wednesday. The constable's vehicle and dead body was found on the riverbank. Both the Excise and Prohibition Department had undertaken a search for him in the river in the night. The Deputy Superintendent of Police, PHD Ramakrishna told reporters that the constable's body was washed ashore on RK Revulanka and investigation pointed to the involvement of the person to whom the summons were to be served. The accused, it is believed by the police that the constable had head injuries and a massive hunt was launched by the police for the accused and his sons.

TTD to suspend some sevas on the eve of Vaikunta Eakadasi
Tirumala

The 'Vaikunta Ekadasi falls on 22nd December and Dwadasi on 23rd festivals will be celebrated at the temple of Lord Venkateswara. The TTD management will dispensed with all arjitha sevas like Thomala, Archana, etc. Sahasra Deeppalankara Seva will be performed. On 'Vaikunta Dwadasi', the temple management will suspend pre dawn rituals like Thomala and Archana. However, there will not be any change with regard to other arjit sevas which will be performed as usual.

Medical representatives plan rally on 13th

Hyderabad

Medical and sales representatives from different parts of the country working in the State Based companies will take out a rally on 13th December to press their demands. Their demands include implementation of laws pertaining to their profession, working hours and punishment to employees for violating acts. The rally will culminate in a public meeting. The Labour Minister G.Vinod and several MLAs and MPs will address the participants according to Organizing secretary, Federation of Medical and Sales Representative's Association of India.

Probe ordered in computer purchase

Hyderabad

The State Government has ordered an inquiry by the Vigilance and Enforcement Department into alleged irregularities in the purchase of computers, printers and scanners during TDP rule. The Finance Minister K.Rosaiah informed the Assembly and the concerned department would be asked to submit its report in two months. In response to a question by P.Janardhana Rao, the Major Irrigation Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah said had given categorical statistics about the number and amount spent for on line file system in the State Secretariat.. Mr.Jaradhrana Reddy alleged that crores of rupees had changed hands in the transactions and sub standard systems were purchased.

Naxals kidnap two persons

Anathapur

Naxalites belonging to the Penukonda dalam of the CPI (Maoist) kidnapped two persons belonging to Chandrgiri village of Penukonda mandal on Thursday on the charge that they were police informers. They later released one of the two in the evening and promised to release the second person after midnight. The naxalites sent information through the released that they would not harm anybody. They said it was done to protest against the harassment of innocents by the police.

Khammam

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Sarasangh Sanchalak, K.Sudarshan will attend the Hindu Sammelan Baithak to be held in Khammam on Friday. More than 10000 activists of the organizations will take part in the route marches to be organized in the town on the occasion. The RSS State Executive will meet in the town on 11th and 12th December.

Irrigation projects

The Government received pre qualified bids from 43 firms/contracts by Thursday evening when the deadline for responding on the renotification issued for medium packages of irrigation projects came to a close. The technical committee formed by the Government will process these applications verifying whether these firms fulfilled the prescribed qualifications. If successful ones will be short listed and included in the panel constituted for executing the medium packages.
