Chandrababu Naidu demands CBI probe
Hyderabad

The leader of the opposition and TDP president N. Chandra Babu Naidu demanded an enquiry by the CBI or judicial commission into the tender process for the irrigation projects in the Assembly on Wednesday. After a three hour long speech marred by the acrimonious exchanges between the Congress and Telugu Desam members, he demanded the probe. Amid noisy protests and derisive remarks from treasury benches, he accused the Congress Government of coming up with granlose irrigation projects with the intention of swindling public money in connivance with the contractors. Earlier the TDP stalled the proceedings for about an hour.

Landmines unearthed

Ongole

The police detected five landmines allegedly planted by CPI (Maoist) in Yerragondapalem mandal of Prakasam district. According to police Superintendent, Mahesh Chandra Laddha, a special team which was on a routine route check detected landmines. The landmines were packed with 10 kg of gelatine sticks each.

Mishap at the Ghat Road

Tirumala

A woman was killed and five injured all belonging to a single family when the driver of the jeep in which they were traveling lost control while negotiating a sharp curve on the Ghat road and capsized after hitting the railings. According to Tirumala Traffic SI KV Surendra Naidu all 13 passengers were natives of Pune and were proceeding to Tirupati after the darshan of the Lord.

Ex-MLA K.Subba Reddy dead

Kurnool

The former MLA K.Subba Reddy passed away at Hyderabad on Wednesday. He was elected thrice to the Assembly from Koilkuntla and he was above faction politics. He resigned from the TDP after the previous Assembly election unable to put up with the intra party squabbles.
