The 12th anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition passed off peacefully with no untoward incident being reported in the city on Monday. Amid fears of outbreak of trouble in the old city, the police made heavy security arrangements to curb any sort of violence. All the business establishments and schools remained closed. The traffic at the Mecca Majid was diverted through alternative ways and the police did not allow even presspersons and photographers near the mosque.

Demand for implementation of Apex court orders

The BJP State unit president, N.Indrasena Reddy held the Chief Minister, YS Rajaskhara Reddy for the verdict by the apex court on categorization of the Scheduled Casts. Speaking at a press conference on Monday, December 06, 2004, he demanded that the State Government pass a resolution favoring classification of SCs into ABC and D and mount pressure on the Centre to enact legislation this effect. He said that the Government is diluting all the welfare schemes launched by the TDP He asked the Government to expedite the head regulator works on the Srisailam tunnel project.
