The former Telugu Desam Minister P.Ramasuba Reddy was sentenced to Life Term imprisonment along with seven others by the Metropolitan Sessions Judge on Wednesday for the murder of two Congress leaders in Shadnagar of Mahabubnagar district. This judgment in a packed courtroom, the Judge K.Rajagopal Reddy convicted them and sentenced all eighth to life imprisonment in the murder case held at Shadnagar bus stand on December 5th, 1990.The Former Minister Ramasubba Reddy speaking to reporters denied his involvement in any murder case. His counsel said that the judgment would be challenged in the High Court. Tension prevailed at Nampally Court as well as Jammalamadu. The police have resorted to impose 144 section.

The new team of AITUC office bearers has announced that they will concentrate on organizing workers in the unorganized sector during the three years of their tenure. In a press conference held on Wednesday, the IATUC vice president, B.Rama Rao and general Secretary PJ Chandra Sekhara Rao said the Andhra Pradesh Agricultural Workers' Union had recently been affiliated to IATUC and efforts were being made to organize beedi makers , rickshaw pullers into trade unions.

The police have deployed heavy police force for bandobust on Wednesday to avert any retaliatory attacks in the wake of the conviction of the former Minister, P.Rama Subba Reddy, and seven others. The police promulgated prohibitory orders under section 1444 and arranged protection to important persons, houses and other properties of both Congress and Telugu Desam party groups according to Jammalamadugu DSP KN Bhaskaran.Armed Reserve personnel were moved to sensitive areas.

The Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission, P.Ramulu has said that the Commission will abide by whatever decision the Government takes with regard to increase in the number of posts for Group I services. Speaking to reporters after calling the Governor, SK Shinde, on Wednesday, he said that the Commission was waiting for the Government directions.
