Venkatesh died without fulfilling his desire

K.Venkatesh, the muscular dystrophy patient whose case set off a debate following his request for euthanasia in order to do be able to donate his organs died in the Global Hospital without fulfilling his desire. According to the Doctors, he spent his last few days on a ventilator and the end came. The cornea was harvested and taken by the LV Prasad Eye Hospital for transplant. The vital organs like kidneys, liver and lungs could not be used as they were already infected. Venkatesh’s mother K.Sujata said that his son died without fulfilling his wish but she will continue to fight on the issue. The plea made by her, the AP High Court on Thursday ordered the setting up of a committee to reconsider the plea for mercy killing to enable the patient to donate the vital organs. The committee decided that here request could not be conceded as the patient’s brain was not dead.
College Lecturers seek pay revision

The Andhra Pradesh Aided Degree College Lecturer’s Association has demanded revision of pay scales of aided degree college lecturers. At a meeting with the Pay Revision Commission, the association said that the Government was adopting two different pay scales for the same post in degree colleges. In a press statement issued by the general secretary M.Yadagiri, he said that a section of lecturers get UGC scales while others get state pay scales. He highlighted other issues like enhancement of HRA, better pension benefits for retired lecturers and setting up of grievances redressel cell in the administration.

Officers of Defence services celebrated the Vijay Diwas at the War Memorial at Parade grounds by paying homage to the valiant soldiers who laid down their lives for the country in the 1971 war. Senior officers of the station and senior retired officers of the three Defence services and civilian dignitaries including the District Collector Arvind Kumar and City Police Commissioner V.Dinesh Reddy were present.
India CFO Award to NTPC's Narasimharalumulu

The Director (Finance), NTPC P.Narasimharalumulu bagged the ‘India CFO Award 2004’ for achieving excellence in finance in a public sector undertaking. He received the award from GN Bajpai, Chairman, SEBI in Mumbai. The award was instituted by the International Market Assessment India according to a press release by the NTPC.
No Licenses for new clubs

The Government has issued orders asking the police not to give any fresh licenses for opening clubs or recreation clubs in the State. The decision has been taken following complaints that these clubs have become a menace to the public. The Government was contemplating amending the law he said and the Home Minister would convene an all party meeting shortly to take suggestions.
CD released on tender issue

The Finance Minister K.Rosaiah on Friday released a CD on the presentation of the Chief Minister, YS Rajasekhara Reddy during a debate on irrigation tenders in the Assembly. The CD was prepared by the Congress Legislature Party would be distributed in villages to inform the people about the factual position with regard to tenders.
