ACB trapped Dy.Chief Engineer

A Deputy Chief Engineer of Irrigation Department M.Nagendra Rao and his Junior Assistant working in Nagarjunasar canal office were arrested by ACB officials in Guntur on the charge of accepting a bribe of Rs.10,000 from a retired employee for reimbursing his medical expenses. The both were being produced before the Special Court for ACB Cases, Vijayawada according to a press release.

Convocation of NTR University in March

The ninth annual convocation of NTR University of Health Sciences is likely to be held in Vijayawada in March next year. In a press release issued on Monday, the University Registrar, P.Jayakar Babu said that the candidates qualified in M.Ch., DM., MD, MS,MDS,and PG Diploma examinations between December 2003 to 2004 were also eligible to apply for the convocation in person. The filled applications should be submitted in person or by post to the Deputy Registrar (Examinations) of the University before 1st February 2005.

Call for counter offensive

The CPI (Maoist) has asked its cadres to take all steps to protect themselves from the police raids irrespective of whether the current ceasefire period is extended or not and accused the State Government for violating the ceasefire agreement. In a three page statement issued on Tuesday, the CPI (Maoist) called upon people to effectively counter all actions of the Police. The ultra left extremist party also asked people not to allow any political activity or political meetings, if they and the revolutionary parties were denied the right to hold meetings peacefully. Three top leaders Ramakrishna, Jampanna and Sudhakar were the signatories to the statement issued. The naxalite leaders maintained that despite the ceasefire, police were continuing their raids in different forms. The Maoist leaders said that in constituting the Ceasefire Monitoring Committee too, the Government displayed dictorial tendencies by not including any of the names suggested by the naxalite leaders.

Deepam connections soon

The Government has decided to release shortly 5.38 lakh new LPG gas connections under the Deepam scheme. Informing it to the Assembly during question hour on Tuesday, the Minister for Civil Supplies G.Vijayarama Rao said there was no move to change the name of the Deepam scheme.
