Chief Minister enquires about PV Narasimharao's health
Hyderabad

The Chief Minister, YS Rajasekhara Reddy made a telephonic enquires about the health of the former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao who is in the ICU of AIIMS. He expressed his anxiety about his health condition while conversing with the latter's son PV Rajeshwararao.

The AP Public Service Commission Chairman, Pervaram Ramulu on Saturday announced that printing of hall tickets had been taken up and that all the candidates would be dispatched by Thursday next. The mains would be held from 19th January to February 9th and results would be released by the first week of May and within days, the interview would be held. He said those would could not get their hall tickets by month end can download the same from the net. He said that examinations for different Gazetted and Non Gazetted posts would be held between 14th February to 17th and by the month end examinations for applicants to the posts of Forest Range Officers would be held.

Encounter with naxals

Warangal

There was an exchange of fire between the police and CPI(ML) naxals at Kodeshalaunta village in the Jakaram forest area of Mulug mandal in the early hours of Saturday. The police recovered one 303 riffle and one Japanese made pistol and 49 rounds of ammunition from the spot. This is third exchange of fire between the naxalites and the police after the peace talks.

Ceasefire extension sought

Hyderabad

The TRS public meeting adopted a resolution requesting the State Government to extend the ceasefire agreement and continue the talks with the CPI (Maoist) and Janashakti naxalites. The two parties had urged the TRS to give a call for extending the ceasefire form the platform since Statehood for Telengana among others was on the agenda for the second round talks. The ceasefire agreement due to expire on 16th of this month was a necessary component of talks.

The Shoban Babu's Rolling Shields for the Best Actor, Actress and Director will be given away by Dasari Narayana Rao, Union Minister for Coal and Mines. RDO and MRO suspended

Kurnool

The State Government has ordered the suspension of the RDO and the MRO whose negligence attitude towards a court verdict had led to the auction of State Government offices at Atmakur village. The government also sought an explanation from District Collector Vikas Raj. The Mandal Revenue Office, R&B guest house, forest guest house and forest office were auctioned by the court after the State Government failed to pay compensation to a doctor Ranga Sai after acquiring his land.

Houses destroyed in fire accident

Srikakulam

33 houses belong to agricultural laborers were burnt in a fire accident in Patrunivalasa, a small hamlet. All the families were working in the filed at the time of the incident which took place around 10 in the morning. Fire tenders from Amadalavalasa and Narasannapeta rushed to the spot along with the local tenders but the fire could not be controlled. There was however, no loss of human but property worth of eight lakhs were destroyed in the incident. Short circuit is the cause of the fire accident, it is said by the officials. The Minister for Revenue Dharmana Prasada Rao directed the officials to take up rescue and rehabilitation measures immediately.

Ailing man seeks euthanasia

Hyderabad

One Mr.Venkatesh who is suffering from an incurable muscular disease has sought the court permission to die so that he can donate his vital organs to the needy. He is bedridden for the past six months and want to die early so that his organs to be used by others. He moved to the High Court seeking permission to advance his death to facilitate donation of his vital organs. Following the High Court order, a team of doctors visited Global Hospitals on Thursday and spoke to him and his mother. Their report is awaited. The doctors said that his days are numbered.
