Revival of Cooperative Sugar mills

The 'Rajiv Palle Bata' programme is giving good results. In Guntur district at Mutyalapalem, he said the State Government will revive 10 sugar mills in the Cooperative sector for this purpose nearly Rs.250 crores are required which will be brought from the Central Government.

At a press conference here, he said refuting the charges made by the TDP for selling 12 sugar mills out of 22, he said that 10 sugar mills are running inefficiently and he will make necessary arrangements to keep them on track on commercial lines.

He announced that Voluntary Retirement Scheme would be introduced for the excess staff. In this connection, he said that the distribution of land to the poor and regularization of pattas given to them was another big problem on which the State Government was concentrating.

A general body meeting of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee will be held on Monday. Digvijay Singh who arrived here for the first time after his appointment as general secretary in charge of Andhra Pradesh said he will give equitable opportunity for all partymen in running the organization and the Government.

Nearly 900 delegates will attend the meeting, the first to be organized after the Congress victory in the elections. Gandhi Bhavan was decorated in a befitting manner and the Venue of the meeting Prakasam Hall was decorated with the portraits of the party leaders.

Barely a day after Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy said that the Congress was prepared to go it alone in the next elections, APCC President D Srinivas, on his part, came up with a statement that the door of the party are always open to all opposition parties except the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Bharateeya Janatha Party (BJP).

Government Hospital Staff Nurse suspended

A Staff nurse of the Government Hospital, by mistake mentioned in the case sheet that a patient's left eye instead of the infected one be removed has been placed under suspension. The Minister for Roads and Buildings, Jakkampudi Ramamohanarao in a press conference said on Monday, a special investigation team from Sarojini Devi Hospital would arrive on Monday to find out reasons for some patients developing infection after surgery in the hospital.
Arrangements on full swing for Krishna Pushakarams

Just 20 days are left for Krishna Pushakarams; arrangements are in full swing by the State Government administration to meet the pilgrim rush along the river banks from August 28th to September 9th.

The celebration of the Puskarams is confined to only 12 rivers in the country and Krishna and Godavari enjoy this status. The Puskaram occurs when the planet Brihaspati enters into Kanya Rasi according to ancient texts. The Endowments Minister M.Satyanarayanarao and the Transport Minister S.Santosh Reddy in a press conference said on Sunday that the Government would spend 210 crores for the Pushakarams, while ensuring foolproof arrangements throughout the course of the river in five districts.

Nearly three crores pilgrims are expected to turn out for Pushakarams. Necessary arrangements have been made to renovate 202 temples on the river banks and 2292 special buses would operate on this occasion.

Ch.Vijayakumar, Regional Director of Municipal Administration was arrested by the police on the charge of seeking sexual favour from a tribal woman employee. The woman was working in the Peddapuram Municipality and suspended some time ago and she approached the official for revocation of the suspension.

When she met him in the office, the latter reportedly asked her to meet him at the Municipal Corporation Guest house in the evening. When she went there, he reportedly expressed his desire and the woman came back and reported the same to the Minister for Roads and Buildings, Jakkampudi Ramamohanarao who laid a trap. The conversation between these two were recorded and basing on the findings, the police arrested and produced him in the court.
