Visakhapatnam is No. 2 in IT

Visakhapatnam Journalists Forum has conducted a 'Meet the Press' program' in which Chief Minister, YS.Rajasekhara Reddy participated. He said that Visakhapatnam will be the number two in the Information Technology.

The Chief Minister said that the State Government is planning to develop an industrial corridor between Kakinada and Srikakulam as necessary. YSR said that the Government is keen at developing more IT Parks and Technology Centers and that the Revenue Department has identified 100 acres land for the proposed IT Parks.

To this end, he will be taking steps with the IT companies in Hyderabad to expand its branches in Visakhapatnam.He said that through Polavaram Left Canal, additional 25TMCs water will be supplied to the farmers. An action plan has been formulated to bring one lakh seventy five acres to Girijans for farming. He stated that already three thousand credit cards were distributed to the weavers.
Explosives seized in Karimnagar

The police have seized one thousand galantine sticks, 2.25quintals detenotators, wire and 2 bags of Ammonia powder which is being transported through an auto rickshaw. The police on a routine check could detect the same and arrested the auto driver. Further investigation is going on according to reports.
Weaver families commit suicide

The spate of suicides of weavers in Karimnagar district is continuing with four more members of a weaver's family including a nine year old girl committed suicide on Sunday night. It is reported the family has taken this extreme step due to heavy debts. The Chief Minister expressed grief and ordered the Handlooms Director GN Rao to go to the village immediately and submit a detailed report according to a press release.
Milk price hike shortly

The AP Dairy Development Cooperative Federation Ltd. has decided to increase the sale price of the Vijaya Milk by one rupee per litre with effect from September 1st. The hike is inevitable due to cost factor in procurement price of milk, fuel, packing etc.
Flash strike by Purohits at Vijayawada

Purohits at the Pushkar Ghats to perform 'pinda pradanam' and other rituals resorted to a flash strike for over two hours alleging a raw deal being meted out to them. The agitated Purohits also alleged harassment by the police personnel posted at the ghats. Nearly two hundred Purohits from the Durga bathing ghat squatted before the control room set up at Durga ghat by the Endowments department and raised slogans against the humiliation meted out to them by the police personnel.
Mid-day meal scheme

The Minister for School Education, N.Rajyalakshmi has announced that the mid day meal scheme would be extended to 37000 students from 115 municipal and aided schools in the city. This was stated at a function where the Chief Minister inaugurated the central kitchen of the Naandi Foundation to supply midday meals to school children. The Chief Minister stressed the need to provide nutritious food for the children and urged the teachers and parents to monitor the implementation. Later, he inaugurated computer education centre set up at a cost of Rs.3.25 lakhs at the Municipal Corporation High School, Kapparada.
Prof. Lingamurty gets Best Teacher award

Professor of Economics and Director of School of Distance Learning and Continuing education N.Lingamurty has been selected as 'Best Teacher' by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The award will be presented to him on the Teachers day in Hyderabad on 5th September.
