Power generation in the state

Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Hyderabad

The AP Transco in a press release said that power generation in the State fell by 1065 MW following a technical problem in the 500 MW Simhadri Thermal Power Station and outages in six other units. On Tuesday evening, the NTPC's Simhadri station was forced to go out of service due to boiler super heater tube leak.

The breakdown came at a time when other generation units were under planned outage.

Power tariff hike shortly

The Government hiked in power tariff by 8.34 paisa per unit which is applicable to all sectors except agriculture with effect from September 1st. The AP Electricity Regulatory Commission, which issued an order sometime back for collection of the fuel surcharge to enable the Transco to meet the cost difference payable to the plants, the Government was left with no alternative except to hike the price.
New Job Schemes by the new Government

The Government has announced its plan to establish an employment facilititation an 'employment facilitation board' to provide increased number of jobs both in public and private sectors to the unemployed youth in the State. The board will be formed with the Finance and Labour Ministers as Chairman and vice-Chairman and the Principal Secretary and the Commissioner, Labour Department as Secretary and convener respectively. The Board was vested with statutory power and it will find vacancies wherever available in the sectors and absorb the unemployed one by a system to be evolved.
No hike in RTC fares

The Minister for Transport, S.Santosh Reddy has clarified that the Government will not increase APSRTC fares in the wake of steep increased in the diesel prices. Inaugurating the RTC 'Garuda' bus service, even though, RTC is under losses, the Government will not further burden the common people.

An engineering student died on the spot and three others received injuries when a lorry said to be driven by a cleaner ran over them ignoring the barricades on the road, near Gudur town on Tuesday.
