Vivekananda Reddy resigns from Cuddapah constituency
Cuddapah
The Congress MP, YS.Vivekananda Reddy resigned for the post of MP who was elected from Cuddapah constituency on Friday. He submitted his resignation to the Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chaterjee in his office. At last he ended the rumors about his resignation for some time back.
AP Government allocates Rs 4300 Crores for Road repair works
Hyderabad
At a review meeting held with the R & B officials, the Chief Minister, YS.Rajasekhara Reddy and the Minister for Road and Buildings, Jakkampudi Rama Mohanrao has said nearly Rs.4,300 crores will be spent on the repairs and laying of new roads in the next coming three years. The decision was taken after a committee report.

A committee will be constituted to study road safety aspect, phasing out the old departmental guest houses and leasing out the same land for construction with facility for commercial use and launching awareness campaign on the road safety etc.,

He asked the officials concerned to submit a report on the status of the road and plan out repairs and laying of new ones.
Krishna Pushakarams starts from 28th
Vijayawada
The mega carnival of Krishna Pushakarams will start at the sun rise on 28th the Saturday when Buda enters into Kanya (Virgo) Rasi. The administration has made elaborate arrangements for this event which comes once in twelve years.

The Government has released water into all reservoirs for these entire 12 day Pushakarams event a success. The Chief Minister will have a holy bath at Beechupalli in Mahabubnagar district, Srisailam in Kurnool district and Vijayawada in Krishna district. The Government has constructed 192 bathing ghats along with 708 km course of the Krishna in the State. Estimates says that nearly three crore people are expected to participate in the holy event.

The SC Railway and APSRTC have made elaborate arrangements for the benefit of pilgrims.
Pushakarams Events to be broadcasted on All India Radio
Hyderabad
All India Radio will broadcast special programmes in connection with the Krishna Pushakarams beginning August 28th. These programmes will include running commentary from Beechupalli, Vijayawada. It will also broadcast highlights of the events from 8.35am to 9.05am. This was stated by AIR Station Director.
