Singareni Collieries management and Union representatives sign agreement

Hyderabad
The Singareni Collieries management and the recognized union representatives have signed an agreement resolving 10 major issues that have disturbed industrial peace for a long time in the coal mines in four districts.

After several rounds of talks in the presence of the Regional Labour Commissioner, Central, MK Chowdary at the latter’s office. The Director, (Personnel) who signed the papers on behalf of the management and the Executive Director of the INTUC affiliated Singareni Coal Mines Labour Union announced this historic agreement at a press conference.

Vizag Police draws excellent response for Gram Sabhas

Visakhapatnam
The Police department has claimed that the response to its gram Sabhas being organized in 16 mandals of the Visakhapatnam agency region since August 9th is an excellent one. According to a department spokesman, various officials including MRO and MPDO were attending the Sabhas and receiving the applications from tribals.

As far as possible, problems were solved then and there itself There are so many demands like laying of roads, ban on arrack and power supply, etc., and the police are taking these to the notice of the concerned department according the SP Sanjay Kumar Jain.

World Peace Day to be observed on September 1st

The State Committee of the All India Peace and Solidarity Organization will observe World Peace day on September 1st by organising peace meetings, demonstrations, human chain, signature campaign, at the important towns and centres in the city.
Ramulu writes letter to Forbes magazine asking it to place Sonia at No. 1 position
Hyderabad
The Forbes magazine might have placed the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi as the third most powerful women in the world, but the Janata Party MLA K Ramulu feels that its grossly erred in not ranking her as the first among the most powerful women in the world. and has sent a representation to the magazine to revise the list on merits.

Mr.Ramulu has decided to fly his representative to US later this month to appraise the magazine above Ms. Gandhi’s sacrifices, services and leadership abilities and declare her as the first most powerful woman he said in a press conference on Saturday.
Foreign Direct Investment opposed

Visakhapatnam
A meeting of the employees, officers and agents of the working class in the LIC, GIC, BSNL strongly opposed the hike in the Foreign Direct Investment the insurance, telecom and Civil Aviation sectors.

In a seminar on 'FDI hike and other policy matters', organized by the Insurance Corporation Employees Union, they unanimously adopted a resolution opposing the hike in the FDI limit in these sectors as it would increase the dominance of foreign companies.
