On the eve of Indian Independence Day, the Chief Minster YS.Rajasekhara Reddy held discussions with the representatives of the political parties and Home Minister K.Jana Reddy last month for the release of the eligible prisoners. A Committee was constituted with political parties last month and the Principal Secretary Home (Prisons) who headed the committee and prepared the eligible prisoners. On the eve of the Independence Day, 1050 prisoners get freedom.

105 tribals shifted to hospital on reports of mystery disease

The Medical and Health Department has shifted 105 tribals of Regulapadu and Pedapaduvalasa hamlets of Koneru panchayat in Mentada Mandal to a garage at the Gajapatinagaram community health centre following four deaths in five days due to a mysterious disease. Atleast 25 patients at the health centre as in patients. Every steps have been taken care by the medical department in this regard.

TDP councilor and his brother brutally killed

A TDP councilor and his brother were hacked to death allegedly by their Congress rivals at Muchalageri Circle in the Old town. Three persons, who were reportedly, involved in the killing, were nabbed by the police. The TDP leaders and activists staged a dharna in front of the SP office demanding suspension of a top police official alleging his involvement.

Rape victim commits suicide in Eluru

Eluru
A rape victim reportedly committed suicide by consuming poison at Kamayyapalem under Jeelugumilli police station in West Godavari district. According to the police, a girl was allegedly dragged into bushes and raped by a youth one T.Srinivas. Unable to bear the insult, the victim rushed home and consumed poison.
