Minister for Coal and Mines visits Singareni Collieries
Vijayawada
The Minister for Coal and Mines, Dasari Narayanarao visited Singareni Collieries on Friday. He commented that the production is not in tune with demand and assured that he will put forth necessary efforts to solve their problems. He said another sixteen mines will be started in the Singareni Collieries. For this, single window committee has been formulated.
Fine of Rs. 5000 for burning RTC Bus
Kurnool
The Fast Track Court at Gadwal in Mahabubnagar district awarded life imprisonment of roar persons involved in the case of burning of an APSRTC bus in Cuddapah district on September 2002 on Friday. The Third Additional District Judge, TV Chalapati Rao, who delivered the judgment, imposed a fine of Rs. 5,000 along with imprisonment.
BJP leaders arrested in Hyderabad

The Bharatiya Janata Party MLA G.Kishan Reddy and former Union Minister, Bandaru Dattatreya were arrested by the Saifabad Police on Friday in connection with the march of children with heart ailment organized on 7th August in which a boy died. However, these two were released on bail.
Registrar detained by Cooperative staff

The State Cooperative Registrar, D.Chakrapani was detained for about three hours at Panchayat Raj Guesthouse on Friday by more than 200 personnel of the District Central Cooperative Bank and cooperative credit societies of West Godavari district. The Registrar was taken by the police to a safer place. All this happened due to the reported announcement to retrench some employees and put a 35 percent cut on salaries by implementing GOs 94 and 116C respectively.

The Chief Minister, YS.Rajasekhara Reddy is said to have expressed a desire to cover all families below the poverty line under the proposed universal health insurance scheme. The scheme will provide for surgeries to children suffering from heart ailments. He held discussions with Devi Prasad Shetty, Chairman, and Narayana Hrudaylaya of Bangalore on Friday to take up necessary steps in this regard.
