Municipal Administration Regional Joint Director suspended
Hyderabad
The Regional Joint Director cum Appellate Commissioner, Municipal Administration Dr.Ch.Vijaya Kumar who was working at Rajahmundry was suspended by the Government on grounds of moral turpitude. Dr.Vijayakumar was arrested by the police on the charges of seeking sexual favour from a tribal woman working as a junior assistant in Peddapuram Municipality.
Three children die at Care Hospital
Hyderabad
The death toll of children went upto eight in past five days due to congenital heart defects. The Government has decided to streamline the affair so as to identify genuine cases.

According to the Additional Director of Health, G.Mastana Rao, children with CHD would have to produce a referral letter either from the district cardiac camps being held by the Government, the first was held at Nakrekal in Nalgonda district or from the State run hospitals like Gandhi and OGH. The letter would have to certify that the child belongs to a below poverty line family and is above 12 years. Meanwhile, 25 children from Gandhi Hospital and 22 from Niloufer were shifted to Image Hospitals on Wednesday.
Ghosh to head the Agriculture Commission

The Government has named Jayati Ghosh of the Economics Department of Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi to head the Agriculture Commission. Utsha Patnaik of JNU, a noted agriculture economist, MS.Swaminathan, Agriculture scientist will be commission's invitee along with six others.

The Constitution of the commission was one of the earliest initiatives announced by the Chief Minister, YS.Rajasekhara Reddy to activate and guide the 'sinking' farm sector. The commission will monitor the entire activity in the sector, making timely suggestions to the Government and tackle problems of agriculturists.
Probe into naxal prisoner's charges
Visakhapatnam
The Principal District Judge, N.Vidya Prasad on an application filed earlier in the day by the district branch of AP Civil Liberties Committee and some journalists, ordered an inquiry against the allegations made by the remand naxal prisoner of the Central Prison. He directed the Second Metropolitan Magistrate, N.Naresh along with two other magistrates on Wednesday conducted an inquiry and it lasted for nearly five hours. The inquiry report would be sent to High Court.

Mr.Naresh said the report would be submitted to the Principal District Judge on Thursday.
Organic farming can save ryots says experts
Hyderabad
Organic farming activists from across the country who attended a workshop held recently opined that it was the right time to the Government cast side conventional Green Revolution technology woven round hybrids, chemical and irrigation. Instead organic farming and divert incentives and subsidies to this sector can save ryots.

Organic farming is ideal for Andhra Pradesh, especially for debt-ridden farmers according to D.Narasimha Reddy of the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements.
G.Saiprasad transferred

According to a press release issued, G.Saiprasad who was presently joint Managing Director, AP Transco has been transferred and posted as Chairman and Managing Director, Eastern Power Distribution Company Ltd., Visakhapatnam.
SBI MF ties up with Andhra Bank
Hyderabad
State Bank of India Mutual Fund announced tie-up with Andhra Bank to distribute its products. PGR.Prasad, MD., SBIMF said at the MoU signing programme that the tie up would help the investment option to the investors.
