One more dies in post-poll violence
Hyderabad
The death roll in the post poll violence marked by clashes between TDP and Congress workers rose to two with a Congress activist Mahubub Basha succumbing to the injuries in stone throwing in Cuddapah district. The violence continued in some parts of the State on Wednesday. A car belonging to the former Minister and Congress candidate D.L.Ravindra Reddy was set afire by unidentified persons at Anppannapalle near Rangapuram village.
Naxals use crude rocket launchers

The PWG unveiled a new weapon in its arsenal when it fired rockets during their attacks on a police station and two camps of Central Reserve Police Force and the AP Special Police in Guntur and Prakasam districts recently. The use of a crude rocket launcher though unsuccessful, by the Maoist rebels could change the security scenario in Andhra Pradesh where the PWG has been effectively employing the shoot-and scoot tactics in its bid to wear out security forces on anti-extremist operations. More importantly, the latest acquisition by naxalites is likely to force the police to drastically revise the security cover for VVIPs. In the light of recent developments, the security for the Chief Minister beefed up. The Intelligence agencies have sounded an alert about the possibility of a Naxalite strike against high profile target in the State.
Repoll in the state ends peaceful

Repoll was held in 99 polling stations in 15 Parliamentary constituencies in the State amidst stray incidents of clash in different places as an aftermath of the first day polling but not connected with the day's exercise. Smoke bombs were hurled in front of the polling stations at Gogulupadu in the Narasaropet constituency, near Rompicherla and Kottalauru in the Vinukonda constituency to threaten voters but polling was not disrupted.
Moves afoot to open Veterinary Science University

Plans are afoot to set up a separate university for veterinary science in the State to upgrade the skills of veterinarians on a continuous basis and improve extension work in a bid to achieve targeted growth in milk, meat and egg production. Addressing a meeting got up to celebrate the World Veterinarians Day, the Director of Animal Husbandry R.Mohanarao said on Wednesday.
Tirumala temple to remain closed for lunar eclipse

According to a press release the temple of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala will remain closed for the 'Kethugraha Kachanna' lunar eclipse which will occur late on the night of May 4th. The Mahadwaram of the temple will be closed at 7.30am on May 4th in view of the eclipse which will fall between 12.18am and 03.42am. Rituals like 'Vasanthosthsavam and 'Sahasra deepalankarana seva will be suspended on May 4th.
DA hike for RTC staff

The APSRTC on Wednesday issued orders increasing the dearness allowance at the rate of 1.9 percent with effect from January 1 this year. The DA hike which is to benefit about 1.2 lakh employees will be paid in May/June according to the APSRTC Transport Mazdoor Sangh.
Teachers meet begins on 29th

Discussion on the education bill will be the main item on the agenda at the two day annual State council meeting of the AP Teachers Union beginning on April 29th at the Zilla Parishad High School, Ramachandrapuram (Medak district).In a press release, the President and secretary said on Wednesday.
Court suspends GO on temple lands

A Division Bench of the High Court comprising Justice Bilal Nazki and Justice P.S.Narayana suspended the operation on the Government order alienating the temple lands at Ponnur in Guntur district through private negotiations.
Congress demands immediate aid

The Congress has demanded immediate relief to the families hit by hail storm in Telengana districts on April 23rd. Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, spokesperson of the APCC Kodanda Reddy former CLP secretary said that despite their representation to the Chief Secretary on Tuesday, the official machinery had not moved into action. Immediate relief must be extended to the families whose houses had been destroyed by hailstorm they said.
TDP to hold meets on voting pattern

The TDP will hold Assembly constituency level meetings on May 3rd and 4th to review the voting pattern down to the village level. A training programme for constituency in charges will be conducted on May 2nd to enable them to go about the work. These decision were taken at a meeting of the TDP president N.Chandrababunaidu with senior party leaders on Wednesday.
TRS advised not to join Government

Going by the exit polls over the certainty of the Congress alliance coming back to power in the State, there is an upbeat mood in the Congress and TRS circle sin the district. The TRS president K.Chandrasekararao who was on a short visit to the district two days ago tried to elicit the views of academics and intellectuals whether to join the Government or to support the Congress from outside in the event of the alliance get majority to form the Government. Intellectuals and academics, who form backbone of the separate Telengana Movement, apparently advised Mr.Rao not to joint the Government and rather support it from outside.

The TTD Board of Trustees, which met on Wednesday resolved to provide 'Gold Mallam' to the copper sheets over the giant size wooden chariot at the temple of goddess Padmavati, Trichanoor at a cost of Rs. 1.44 crores.
