Naidu runs down Congress campaign

Hyderabad

The Teleugu Desam Party president N.Chandrababunaidu has said the campaign by his party was carried out on positive lines in spite of various constraints whereas the show by the Congress was 'negative' and 'lacked credibility'. The Congress tried to vitiate the minds of people by raising fears that, in the event of the TDP'sre-election, there would be immediate power tariff hike, privatisation of Singareni Collieries, Vijayawada Thermal Power Station and APSRTC poor prospects in agriculture, reduction in age of Government staff and DA of pensioners told a news conference on Sunday.

No power tariff hike for three years-YSR

The former CLP leader Dr.Y.S.Rajasekharareddy announced that in addition to supply of power free of cost to agriculture, the Congress, if elected would not resort to hike in electricity tariffs for at least three years. He said at the meet the press programme. The free power promise would cost the Government just Rs.250 cores, which was less than what the TDP Government was spending on advertisements.

Shipping Secretary visits Visakhapatnam Port

Visakhapatnam

The Secretary, Ministry of Shipping D.T.Joseph visited the Dock area and the Ore Handling Complex of Vizag port on Sunday. He also visited the Ore Handling Complex. Port Chairman KR Kishore explained about the working mechanism of the port. He said that the port is making the are 'Eco Friendly' by planting trees.

Telugu Desam groups trade charges

Srikakulam

The charges and counter charges in the Telugu Desam Party over the alleged 'cross-voting' in Srikakulam Assembly Constituency continued with the district unit president and the party nominee for Assembly G. Appala Suryanarayana stating that the TDP president and Chief Minister N.Chandrababunaidu would take action based on reports he had on the election and the extent to which leaders had worked for the party.

Four die in van-bus collision

Karimanagar

Four persons were killed and five others were injured when the van in which they were traveling was hit by an RTC bus near Edulaguttapalli village of Manakondur Mandal on Sunday night.

YSR will serve people better

At the meet the press programme organized by APUW on Sunday Dr.Reddy said 'if in the process of serving people, one becomes the Chief Minister, it will enable one to render more servic'. The Chief Minister, it will enable one to render more service. The Chief Minister's job, however, is not a coveted one for him. The aim of any politician was to go down in the history as a good leader he clarified.
