State and Central Government development only with Congress - says Sonia

Addressing the well attended meeting held on Friday in Nellore, Ms.Sonia Gandhi along with AICC Secretary Mr.Azad, she commented that the development of the State and Central will only possible with the Congress. She criticized the TDP government on it's failure in all aspects especially in supply of drinking water and supply of water to farmers. The increasing of suicides of farmers in State is an example for failure of the Government. She promised that if Congress is voted to power, the Congress will implement all development activities which was promised by the party.

The Elections for the post of Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation Standing Council Chairman post, Mr.P.J.K.Varma was elected for the fifth time on TDP banner. The victory was celebrated by them and one of the leaders commented that it is an indication that the TDP will come into power.
Krishnam Raju is facing difficult times in the elections

In West Godavari district Narasapur Lok Sabha segment, Mr.Krishnam Raju is a BJP candidate and his friend Hariramajogayya who strived hard for his victory in the last elections and in the changed scenario he is contesting on Congress banner against Krishnam Raju.In the changed political atmosphere, he is facing problems with his own cadre and his victory is not a smooth sailing.

As temperature shoots up beyond 43 degrees Celsius compounding water and power crisis and fuelling an anti incumbency factor, the ruling TDP is fighting a tough battle to retain its seats in the drought hit faction ridden Rayalaseema region. Taking advantage of the situation, the Congress appears all set to make some gains. Pendency of projects like Telugu Ganga, Galeru-Nagari, Chitravathhi balancing reservoir and the closure of Cuddapah Sugar and Proddattur Milk factories have become major poll issues, impacting the chances of the TDP. In addition that the Government and RTC employees unions have adopted resolution to vote against TDP.DWCRA women too are unhappy. The Congress hopes to capitalize on the people's mood and raise its 1999 tally.
Former MP attacks on TDP
Visakhapatnam
The former MP from Anakapalle, P.Appalanarasimham has expressed concern that the TDP established by the late N.T.Ramarao for the sake of the poor was now supporting only the rich. Talking to newspersons on Friday, he said that he had come to know of his explusion from the TDP only from newspapers and there was no official communication. He said that he would work to uphold the ideals of NTR and support any good candidate from any political party.
Yerram Naidu admitted to NIMS
Hyderabad
The TDP leader K.Yerran Naidu who was injured in a landmine blast near Srikakulam recently was airlifted from Visakhapatnam and admitted to NIMS on Friday morning where his condition is stable.
TDP flags, banners seized

The Election Task Force team seized a large number of TDP flags and banners put up at important traffic islands and roads here on Friday put up by TDP activists to mark the visit of the Chief Minister N.Chandrababunaidu.The Task force vedeographed the seized publicity material.
YSR vows to undo TDP rule's injustice

The Congress is committed to undoing the injustice heaped on the drought prone Ananthapur district by the TDP, if it is voted to power, the Congress leader Y.S.Rajasekharareddy said. In his whirlwind tour of the district as a part of Jaitra Yatra, Dr.Reddy addressed more than dozen election meetings covering 10 Assembly constituencies and conducted road shows. Public response to his meetings was over whelming.
No problem sitting in Opposition-TDP

The Revenue Minister Ashok Gajapati Raju said that the TDP will sit in the opposition if the electorate denies power to the party in the elections. Speaking to presspersons on Friday, he exuded confidence that their party would fare better now than any earlier election as the wave was in favour of the TDP.Commenting on the NDTV exit poll results, Mr.Raju said various bodies were conducting poll surveys but the results were varied.
