Two naxalities held under POTA
The Adilabad police on Monday arrested two PWG naxalities under the Prevention of Terrorism Act taking the number of POTA cases in the district to five. The two naxalities Kamera Chandraiah alias Suresh alias Manikyam carrying a reward of Rs.1 Lakh and who is involved in 21 cases including five murders. The other Khairi Sattvva had been working as a militant for the last one year. The Ananthapur district police registered a case against Sadhu Ramesh Reddy alias Narasimha, the Penna Area secretary of the PWG under POTA. He is an accused in 20 criminal cases in the area.
Dr.Y.S.Rajasekharareddy sees strong anti incumbency factor

The former CLP leader Dr.Y.S.Rajasekharareddy saw a landslide in the Congress favour and predicted a massive victory for his party because of the anti-incumbency factory. He was talking to presspersons at Sitampeta in Srikakulam district, where he came for the Jaitrayatra campaign of the party.

The former Chief Minister N.Janardhanareddy on Monday asked partymen to mobilize people from all walks of life for the public meeting to be addressed by the party president Sonia Gandhi at the Port Stadium on April 15th. He was reviewing the arrangements for the election meeting with the party candidates.
April 20th declared Holiday

The Visakhapatnam District Collector and District Election Officer, Sunil Sharma declared April 20 as a public Holiday in connection with the first phase of poll day in the Visakhapatnam Parliamentary Constituency, The Bhadrachalam (ST) Parliamentary Constituency covering Paderu (ST) and Chintapalli (ST) Assembly segments and the Anakapalle Parliamentary Constituency. He also declared April 19th as a local holiday for schools, colleges, universities and other institutions whose buildings are requisitioned for the purpose of setting up polling stations and distribution centers in each of these constituencies.
14 rebels expelled by TDP

The Telugu Desam Party president N.Chandrababunaidu on Monday expelled 14 persons including the former Minister Simhadri Satyanarayana and seven former MLAs for refusing to withdraw the nominations they had filed in defiance of Party's ticket.
Venkaiah Naidu asks naxalas to contest elections

The Bharateeya Janatha Party president M.Venkaiah Naidu has called upon naxalities to shun violence and join the mainstream of society to contest elections. Addressing an impressive election meeting in the ITI College grounds in Peddapalli town on Monday afternoon, M.Venkaiah Naidu said that 'violence is not a solution any problem and the destruction of public property such as bridges, telephone exchanges etc., is causing serious loss to the common man with the denial of development'. He pointed out that the ballot is more powerful than the bullet.
'CAR' symbol denied

The election authorities in the State have implemented the Supreme Court order by not allotting the car symbol of the Telengana Rashtra Samithi to K.S.Ratnam who had filed the nomination papers for the Nagarkurnool Lok Sabha seat representing the party but failed to submit the B form within the stipulated time

Around 10 naxalities set fire to TDP flags furniture, and bagfuls of essential commodities in the house of the former Mandal president of Addateegala, B.Satyanarayana on Sunday night for not obeying their order to boycott the election.
Nadendla seeks probe into Naidu's assets

The former Chief Minister Nadendla Bhaskararao has demanded an enquiry into the 'acquisition of assets and wealth' by the Chief Minister N.Chandrababunaidu from his days as an MLA till date. Addressing a press conference, Mr.Rao charged Mr.Naidu with 'amassing wealth' and turning governance and politics into business. In the process, he transformed the Government itself into a 'sick industry' leaving the finances in a mess and corruption at its peak.
