EAMCET qualifying marks reduced to 25%
Hyderabad: September 6, 2003

Minister N Anjaneyulu said that the Government of Andhra Pradesh has decided to reduce the qualifying marks by 5% from 30% to 25%. Admissions to the qualifying candidates will be conduced through counseling for the rank. As many as 28,000 will become eligible due to this.

Over 11000 seats in various Engineering colleges were empty after the end of the recent counseling's. The Counseling for the newly qualified candidates will be held between September 11-22, 2003.

Some student unions and experts feel that the error by the Government in deciding the exact number of seats required has led to this situation. They said that the more Engineering colleges were granted permission and that reducing the qualifying mark just to fill in the seats will result in reduced quality.
