Telangana was denied water - says KCR
TRS Leader Chandrasekhara Rao said that the Telangana region was denied water. He said that the rightful share of water from various water projects was not allocated to the region. He said that Karnataka is going as per the law and getting clearance to various water projects from CWC since they are going technically. He said that the various projects that were available for the Telangana region were not continued after the region merged with the Andhra region. He felt that Karnataka is right in increasing the height of Almatti project because they got the necessary clearance.

Mr. Chandrasekhara Rao suggested for the formation of an autonomous river valley body has to be set up so as to resolve problems related to water. He asked the Government to go to the Center in this regard. He reminded that this problem is not just with Andhra but also with Tamil Nadu.

Mr. Rao said that the Government has to do a recalculation and use the existing water before going to a new tribunal. He accused that the Government ignored the priorities for water projects

Minister Sri Kadiyam Srihari said that we went to the Supreme Court and asked to put the height of the Almatti Project at 519ft. Supreme court gave its judgement as such. He said that Karnataka has filed an affidavit to the Supreme Court that they have increased the height of projects not for agriculture but for power production and that the water is released for us.
Karnataka River projects not just for power production - says Srihari
Minister Kaidyam Srihari said that the area design of the project, canal design, discharging of Karnataka looked like those for irrigation purpose and not for power generation. He said that Karnataka is making plans to use the project water for its sugar factories in the region. He said that Andhra has informed the Supreme court about this. He said that when the Project height is increased, Almatti will get more storage capacity to hold water for the entire year in which case our state will not get enough capacity.

Mr Hari and other ministers accused that TRS is supporting Karnataka on Almatti issue which is not fair being a MLA from Andhra and is taking this situation for political favor.
