Farmer and Women-welfare to be the topic for 19th Janma Bhoomi program

Chief Minister Sri N Chandrababu Naidu held a Video Conference with District Collectors from the Legislature. He said that Farmer and Women will be the theme for the 19th Janma Bhoomi program that begins will be between June 1-10, 2003. He said that 5 subcommittees will be constituted at Mandal level to do microplanning.

Vijayawada Police Commissioner granted bail

Police Commissioner of Vijayawada Mr. S Surendra Babu surrendered before the IIIrd Metropolitan Judge Court in regard to the non-bailable warrant issued on him in regard to a lockup death case in Governor pet. The Additional Sessions Judge whom the Commissioner met directed to surrender before the Metro-judge. He was later released on Bail. Assistant Commissioner, ASI and others and others also got bail.

Noted Film Director Sri Kranthi Kumar dies

Noted Film Director Sri Kranthi Kumar died in Hyderabad today after over 2 years of problem with his kidney. He is 61 and is survived with a wife and 2 daughters. Sri Kranthi Kumar entered into film industry in 1968 and worked with many directors. His Pranam Kharidu is Chiranjeevi debue film. His Jyothi is Jayasudha's block buster. His film Seetaramayya gari Manavuralu won him Best Director Award. The film remained as the turning point to Meena. Sri Kranthi Kumar directed many films in Telugu apart from Kannada, Hindi and Tamil Nadu.

86% qualify CEEP 2003

Results of CEEP 2003 were released by Minister Sri Neraella Anjaneyulu today. 86% of those who appeared for the examination qualified. A total 49,500 appeared for the examination - a number much smaller that the earlier years entrance examination. Hike in the number of Engineering seats was believed to be the reason for this. Rank Cards will be dispatched on May 17 and admissions program will be followed.

CLP Leaders tour enters Khammam

CLP Leader Dr. Y S Rajasekhar Reddy said that his tour is not limited to Paada yaatras and that understanding the real problems of the people and taking these points to the Government is the reason for his tour. CLP Leader's tour today entered Khammam. His tour reached 60 days and entered into 3rd month. His tour was followed by large number of women and other party members.

Srikakulam ZP asks water contractors to complete their works

Srikakulam Zilla Parishad that met today ordered Contractors who were engaged to various water works in the district to complete their contractual works on time. ZP Chairman Mr. EV Suryanarayana said that contractors who violated this will be subject to action. He said that this measure is to come of the severe drought situation in the district.

Sri Tridandi Ramanuja Chinajiyar Swamy inaugurated a hospital built at a cost of Rs. 70 lakh as a part of Gita Jyothi Yagnam program in Warangal.
A women along with her 2 daughters committed suicide in a lodge by consuming pesticides. Family problems were believed to be the reason for her to take this extremist action.
Government School Teachers in Tirupati took out a rally demanding that transfers should be taken up at Mandal level. They also asked for modification to the Rationalization GO.
Health Minister Sri Kodela Sivaprasada Rao said that he will look into the problems of Health workers. He interacted with a health workers union that was earlier with INTUC that joined Telugu Nadu.
Dalit Women in Guntur staged a protest against Government for not looking at their problems.
Workers of Suger factories in Nizamabad staged a protest demanding their 3 months wages. They asked the Government to come forward and solve their problem.
