1 lakh houses to be distributed every month - promises CM
Chief Minister Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu said that the Government will be allocating 1 lakh homes a month for the next 10 months. He took part in various programs in Nandivada of Krishna district. He inaugurated a dam and other social welfare programs.
ISRO's GSAT 2 experiment successful
Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has succeeded in launching D2 version of the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) and allowed into GSAT 2 satellite to be placed into orbit at around 4:58 PM from the Satish Dhavan Space Center, Sriharikota in Nellore. The GSAT 2 satellite is India's new communication satellite.
"It is a great day - What a classic text book we have today.." - felt Chairman of ISRO, Dr. Kasturi Rangan.
He said that the launch is 'a major mile stone for ISRO and a proud technology achievement'. He said that this launch has brought full confidence of the vehicle for carrying 2000 kg class of satellites.
Dr. Madhavan Nayar of Vikram Sarabhai Space Research Center, Prof. Sathish Dhavan, Prof. Narasimha, Dr. Srinivasan, Dr. Kisley were present at the center at the time of launch.
Governor takes part in World Red Cross Day celebrations
Governor Sri Surjit Singh Barnala said that AIDS Removal program should be taken as a social program and only then will it be successful. He took part in World Red Cross Day celebrations and inaugurated a blood donation.
Zoo Advisory Committee visits Tirupati Zoo
The Zoo Advisory Committee that visited and checked the facilities of Tirupati Zoo Park. The committee felt the lacking of proper transport system to the Zoo Park and recommended the installation of an electric rail inside the zoo park to lure customers.
APNGO's to go on strike on 21 May
APNGO's Association said it will go on Nation wide strike on 21st May. The one day strike was called against State and Central Government reforms particular at the idea of disinvestment of the Central Government from profit making companies. Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Congress Party said that it will be supporting the strike. PCC President Sri M Satyanarayana Rao said that it is coming up with a 19-demands list and felt that the strike will also be supported by the left parties.
AUCET Examinations begins today
Andhra University Common Entrance Examination (AUCET 2003) examinations began today. AUCET Office received 98,000 applications for various courses offered by the Andhra University and its affiliated colleges. With the implementation of vertical system, the number of applications received is 15,000 less than that of the previous year.
Students of NGRAU continues strike
Hunger strike of Students of NG Ranga Agriculture University reached 3rd day today in Hyderabad. The students were on strike against increase in fees and were asking for the reintroduction of the old semester system.
District Party elections of the TDP in Anantapur couldn't come to a good close after the observers felt shifting the election of party president post venue to Hyderabad after failing to compromise local leaders.
Mr. Nimmakayala Chinappaya was elected as District Party President of TDP in East Godavari. Sri JR Pushparaj who was the observer had tough time compromising the election. Members for various committees was also finalized.
A Jain temple was inaugurated in Guntur today. The temple built with stone took over 2 decades to construct.
